New York’s congressional delegation will shrink by one seat after the 2022 election, the Census Bureau announced on Monday, but the state came excruciatingly close to snapping an eight-decade streak of declining representation in Washington: It was 89 residents short, to be precise.

The figure, revealed during the Census Bureau’s announcement of which states would gain and lose seats in the House of Representatives after the decennial population survey, meant that if New York had counted 89 more people last year than the 20,215,751 who were tallied, it would have held on to the House seat. Instead, it went to Minnesota.

If only Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) wouldn't have killed so many New Yorkers by putting COVID-19 positive patients into nursing homes, New York would have kept its entire Congressional delegation.

Too bad, so sad.

Cuomo and New York lost that House seat for several different reasons.

Killing old people and losing a House seat isn't funny.

Cuomo blew it twice. Remember in the early days of the pandemic President Trump wanted to quarantine New York state. Cuomo was insistent that RICH people in New York should be able to leave New York state and he threatened a "civil war" over the issue.

President Trump would have had to declare martial law at that point to overrule Cuomo.

BUT, it all worked out....the Census counts where you where on April 1st. As the statistics show, the rich and famous were NOT in New York on April 1st.

Gee, you would think at least 90 of them would hang around all the death and dying to help out Governor Cuomo.

This is a new low for this board. And that’s saying something.

Cuomo is Satan. He did in fact cause so much pain and death. Hell, we even have a lot of Team Blue members in here who have been critical of him.

But chill out with the deaths being a good thing. Those poor people and their families were already victimized enough.

Excerpt: New York Loses Congressional Seat By 89 People [Thank You Governor Cuomo!]

Response: Opinion

Stats never lie.
If only Cuomo and his party of Blue smurfs would start believing the numbers.

Far from being a fan favorite he is only partially at fault.
Culpability also is pointed at Mayor Bill for destroying a
beautiful city that took 20 years to clean up.

He destroyed it in under 4 years.

Can't wait to rid the city of both of them......................

For the first time in 80 years Florida does not gain 2 seats or more. The least amount of movement since the 1940 census. Second most stagnant population in the country’s history.

The wonderful populist rhetoric and policy has resulted in the second period of most stagnant population growth in our nations history. Florida, North Carolina and other southern and west states were over estimated by a metric ton. Meanwhile the population growth in the northeast and Midwest was greatly underestimated. New York State gained nearly 1 million people over the decade.

It’s just funny we keep hearing how great the orange haired populist and his his buddy running Florida, Trump lite are so wonderful. Their policy slowed growth and resulted in the worst census count in decades and the first time in 80 years Florida did not gain 2 or more seats. They shot themselves in the foot. That’s what’s funny

You are correct but I have covered this subject and it is filled with controversy.
The problem lies within the following question.
How many are contributing members of society ?

The poverty rate had risen during Democratic Presidency 2010-2015 *
and reached its lowest rates under Republican President Donald Trump.

Given the current Lock down and economic mess what does the economy look like for
the added millions now?

Trillions in Federal Aid fortunately step in but at what cost to future New Yorkers ?

Let's come back to answer this question honestly in another 10 years.....................
