Can someone explain how this is normal? Why can every European country declare the winner the night of Election Day, at latest the morning after? heck, even borderline third world Brazil manages to count votes faster than Arizona.
It is ridiculous but we can thank all the mail in votes. Absentee ballots are one thing but mass mail in voting is another and it is crazy because it can be ripe for fraud. Other countries have figured this out but the Left wants it and more because, drum roll please, it benefits them.
It really is crazy that in 2020 we went to bed with Trump in the lead but then they started counting the mail ins and amazingly they found just what they needed in the key areas. It is funny how that worked out...
Given how everyone wants elections to be super secure and counted right, I assumed everyone would be happier with more careful counting? Can't trust the machines counting, so it's got to be done by hand.

In our state all ballots are mail in or drop box. For those that mail or drop off on election day it can be 2-3 days or more before they get counted. If those procrastinators happen to go mostly for one party or the other, it can actually change the outcome in a close race. Overall though, not likely since our state is so blue in the areas with population. It's too bad we can't do all voting by internet for instant results, but that would allow a lot more cheating, and be vulnerable to hackers.
In PA, you can thank the PA GOP: although they control both houses of the PA Legislature, they STILL have not passed any legislation allowing for the canvassing of mail-in ballots prior to Election Day. The GOP-controlled PA Legislature expanded mail-in voting back in 2019, but did not incorporate this common-sense measure common in many other states with mail-in voting. Because of this, PA takes several days to process votes--especially in the population centers, such as Philadelphia County.
I firmly believe that, had the GOP-controlled PA Legislature allowed for the precanvassing of mail-in ballots, we would have FAR less election-denying lunatics, as the results of Election Night 2020 would have been a lot clearer a lot earlier.
The fact that we allow early voting and mailed in ballots is ridiculous. Unless youre travelling or bed ridden, there should be no excuses to not vote live in person.
Red states seem to have it down. Look at Florida, Arkansas, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming and others, 98-100% of the vote has been counted in every district and all of these districts have declared winners.

Correct, it's just poor implementation in those states. I haven't voted in person for over a decade in Florida its never been an issue because we have a process. But this is what Federalism is about right? Each state does what it wants.
