Actually, I wonder if it wasn't destroyed before.

In the last century, there was a magazine called "Women's Sports and Fitness". It was short, it was sweet, it covered women's sports and that was it.

Around the turn of the century, I got my subscription issue only it was Women's Sports and Fitness but Women's Sports. A different magazine. I went back to the previous issue and in the Editor's notes, called "The Next Mile", that one was titled "The Last Mile" where she announced that the magazine had been bought out by a big name magazine company. She noted it on a good note for that is what happens in the competitive world, they buy out the successive ones.

Well, I soon told the subscription company to refund the rest of my yearly monies because the magazine I cherished had turned into something like another Shape. What was the fad diet this month and stuff like that.

It was rather "interesting" to see that the successor magazine folded within a year. Interesting and distressing. They bought out what was a success to us but then decided it wasn't profitable and WE WERE LEFT WITH NOTHING!

Right or left, just nail us to a cross.

Frankly I wouldn't have much of an issue with this if the transgender was at least stunningly beautiful. How that clearly obese specimen could win a beauty contest when there were clearly many other more attractive women all around her makes the whole contest a sham. I would guess this type of event will turn off many more people than it would attract.

More proof women can't compete with men.

Good points. Certainly agree about who they used for models....just look at Racquel Darrian. Them and Larry Caye of The Latent Image....what an era!

I got out of Penthouse when they started showing urination as part of their photography. Now maybe there is correlation to what we have now....or should be. That is, "Give the public what they want!".....so is what we have now what the public wants?

In the face of this issue, I would say now and it is rather TPTB forcing it down the public throat.......but then again, I believe that TV is absolutely horrible from many different angles and yet, it has not changed back.

So, I really don't know what the public wants.

Curious thing about Playboy and Penthouse is that when Playboy went under, I got a postcard from them saying, since they are gone, they recommended Penthouse since it was the next best thing.....and the two seem so different, picture wise. Shrug, maybe the distribution company was talking instead.
Oh yeah. The golden shower thing. Uggg. I'd forgotten some of the directions Penthouse was branching into. I remember a blurb from Guccione along that "give the public what they want" line. I don't know what the public wants either. But if some of the genres of porn that are out there is any sort of barometer the public wants some strange (and downright gross) stuff. Playboy going under was rather the end of less porn centric publications. LOL, when I was a kid my Dad would drop me off at the barber shop in town every Saturday morning and he would go to the feed store or the hardware store and the shop always had either Playboy or Penthouse (sometimes both) in the mag rack. That was back in the 70s and even then the two were VERY different especially in their pictorial spreads as you mentioned.

Larry Flynt was always pushing things all the way to the edge with Hustler. It was there the first he/she stuff started popping up in mainstream porn. Yeah, Flynt would have been all over getting this deformed rhinoceros in this pageant to sign on. He was one of those "give the public what they want" sorts too. Playboy stayed pretty tame, Penthouse went with a lot of girl/girl spreads and got into the golden shower bit, Hustler did the he/she thing and now the tamest of the three is defunct. That maybe points an indicator as to just how far what the public wants has gone in a particular direction. Those three magazines are the only ones I remember being on news stand shelves. It was still that way when I looked at that last issue of Penthouse which was in the early 90s. As I think about it there was a pictorial of two women and a man in it that did the golden shower thing. So they started into that quite a spell back.

With the availability the internet offers into anything and everything now I'm surprised that actual printed magazines still exist. Reading words and looking at pictures is seen as anachronistic these days. But Barber shops and Doctor's offices need to put something out in the waiting areas I reckon. LOL

Ridiculous. Clearly a statement is trying to be made here. But this already happened on Top Model...the model at least looked good.

The real women ought to unite and boycott (A most appropriate verb) all these events. Leave the pretenders to drag events.
As far as women's sports go give them their own, separate classification. One could take hormones and have surgery but still have the larger heart, lungs and general musculature of a male to give an unfair advantage.

Hard to say. Who buys the wall calendars these days and more importantly, why? I do as stated, but as stated, my reasons are far different from most buyers who I would estimate are men.

What does "Hot Naked Girls" August 2022 Jannah Burnham (photographer Mark Daughn) have on the wall over that on the computer where she is free? She's picked because it is one heck of an example of fantasy photography, of the innocent forest nymph. Wall at $20 or on the computer at nothing, how does one pick? I can't, if you will excuse the pun, nail it down but I suppose it does depends on the person. I live to cover my walls and the entire process, from picture to framing to being put on the wall is life. Now, is Jannah going to be up on my wall? Probably not......unless I do the photoshoot (but that is an issue of loving your own work).

I suppose, if all they are to one is a fantasy they would like to get their hands on, more or less, so to speak, then it as cheaply as possible is okay.....though one of my models has expressed that if one is going to be getting off to her image, she expects an Xmas present.

BUT, back to the topic that on the issue of size, there has to be beauty associated. I suppose my biggest photo subject was the late Sholo the Nubian. Certainly a man but also huge in size but how he displayed it was so marvelous. He was not the kind of "Here I am, take me as is." which, alas, I am afraid that is what we are often being faced with today.

And of the well muscled women in my camera lens? That is the catch that they are well muscled, trained, working out, and are often the winners of the swimsuit competitions.

Like it or not, looks matter and if they are not there and we have a choice (that's the kicker), we are going to walk away.

The catch is, can we.......or if we do, will we become their targets to do the "peaceful" version of SWATTING us?
