They are counting the mail in ballots. It requires a hand count....with a Repubican, a Democrat and a non-artisan person seeing each vote.

Well, get to amending the Constitution then.

??? Who would claim that. The Electoral College warps thing because some states are worth more than others but in each district or state the represenitive or senator got a majority vote. This is kind of different than the electoral college in that since I don't live in Texas I don't get to vote on their Senators or Reps but everyone in my state and everyone in Texas votes for the President.

The small state vs big state myth is the cleaned up version they teach in elementary school.

Time - The Troubling Reason the Electoral College Exists
Ah no, states with low population would have much less say than states with more population. The 3/5 compromise was about representation in Congress but since the electoral college vote is calculated by taking the number of reps. a state has plus it's two senators, the EC vote is effected as well. It was about states not people. Only one member of the Constitutional Convention thought that The President should be elected directly by the people.

...because of non-voting slaves which would have meant the free states had more power.

So why don't we just get rid of the electoral college and elect the president by the popular vote.

The outstanding vote in CA will close that gap alone. Similar every election...the GOP President has a lead in the Popular vote and then the California vote rolls in. I seriously doubt that the GOP won the popular vote. They usually don't even when they pick up seats.
