Just my thoughts. Reading comments regarding what he said about DeSantis, seems like many are now done with him. What would Trump do if he felt the GOP was abandoning him? Would he just say fine, drop out of the race and go to MAL? Or would he be spiteful and decide to take down the GOP with his own MAGA party?
LOL..might want to crack a civics book to see how political parties are formed and become "official" parties.
He needs to be president in the worst way. Other types of people WANT to be president, it's a goal of sorts based upon either the desire to serve or an ego trip or some combination.
Trump, on the other hand, doesn't merely want to be president ... he NEEDS to be president. He will do whatever it takes and there is no boat he won't sink to accomplish that ... no mountain he won't try to move.
So yes, he will burn down the house if he doesn't get what he wants, and he will destroy the Republican Party if needs be.

Trump IMHO has already destroyed it. My father is Rockefeller Republican that has been since the 60's. He is going to change registration to be an Independent voter now. Why, the Republican Party has become the Trump party.
Repubs would be foolish to go with DeSantis. Trump is the only candidate they got that can "reach across the aisle" so to speak. DeSantis is way too far right extreme. I dont like Trump's chance anymore but they sure as hell are way better than DeSantis' on a national scale
Just from his comments this week. He is not willing to pass the baton to DeSantis. You wonder if he has reached out to DeSantis behind the scenes not to run and DeSantis rebuffed him. So he made a public warning.
And he has shown he is very capable of turning on almost anyone or anything if he does not like how he is treated. Look how he attacks Fox News at times. My guess is if DeSantis defies him and runs. And Trump behind the scenes will probably enlist the RNC and members of congress to force DeSantis out. If they don't go along with that and DeSantis is way ahead in the polls I could see him angry at the GOP and running on his own. If he somehow pulls it off and wins. He is bigger than the political parties and did something no one as done for a very long time. Win and not be a D or R.
If Trump ends up running as the Rep. nominee for starters he needs: Admit Biden won which would go a long way in removing this abrotsoss (election denier) from around his neck. Reach a truce with McConnell and McCarthy. Then there's the issue of self-control. His latest salvo suggesting Gov. Youngkin last name sounds Chinese was insulting.
Unless Trump decides seriously re-calibrates his strategy and learn some restraint of pen and tongue he has little chance of winning.
