I had to sit through a corporate event of it i last celebrating some nominal achivements of hispanics in the org, but it first kicked off on hispanic influences on America and they presented AOC and Eva Longoria as hispanic achievements. This is the best they could do about hispanics? What achievements have hispanics given to the country or advancements to mankind? Seriously, they want to be recognized but had nothing to show for it.

Imagine any country offering American history/heritage month, its just silly and would be laughed at.
Indeed

We have been a melting pot, where immigrants assimilate into our American culture, not try to force us to accept theirs.
Sure they can keep their religion, language and customs when at home, but otherwise they have strived to be American, not a hyphenated-American.
Those who are not familiar with our history, do not even realize being called a hyphenated-American was considered an insult, as they were being looked at as not as American as a native born citizen.

Part of the way they assimilated is to learn to speak our language, they named their kids with American sounding names, thus Giuseppe became Joseph, Padraig became Patrick, etc.
Yet today, some blacks are naming their kids what they perceive to be African names, which is the opposite of what those who want to be American have done. Ironically, as born and bred citizens, they are going in the opposite direction in recent decades. Plus, some of those weird sounding names are not African in origin, rather just made up.

As to AOC as an example of brown peoples achievements, they must have been joking. She is so vacuous, she hardly represents the best and brightest of brown culture.
Those types are just full of themselves, and are constantly looking for affirmation among themselves. That is why you will rarely see a celebration of multiculturalism with conservatives, only those on the left.
Look no further than the African-American Musuem, where Clarance Thomas is barely recognized, but all sorts of leftist blacks are paid tribute to.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of your ancestorial background, but to remain a cohesive nation, we must be American first & foremost.

American culture is constantly evolving. We're no longer the French/Dutch/German/Spanish/English speaking country we used to be during our founding and have largely evolved into different variations of those languages being primarily spoken with the current primary languages being English and Spanish. The fastest growing languages in the US are Spanish and a variety of Asian languages. So true to our historic American culture, it continues to evolve.

Even our cuisines have shifted from being largely new world (influenced by native American dishes), French, and Spanish to Italian, Latin (including beyond Spain), Chinese, French, and many others.

Unlike European, Asian, & African countries where assimilation is based on deeply rooted culture, assimilation in America is based on the merging and evolution of multiple cultures. We've never had a deeply rooted culture beyond that of capitalism. We're a young country and over time this will likely change.

And the segregation and discrimination of blacks was wrong. That has since been corrected. What you aren't acknowledging is that since 1965 we have been flooded with foreigners who are neither white nor black and that have cultures and languages that are unlike American whites and blacks. We have an established and identifying culture that many of these immigrants haven't embraced or assimilated to. This has caused culture clash and has balkinized our country instead of uniting it. Add massive illegal immigration to that and it is a recipe for disaster.

Multiculturalism leads to racism. That’s all I have on the subject.

In the medical field, quite the opposite is true. Some homogenous DNA pools are better than others, ie. Scandic countries lifespan is 83 years, latin America 74 years, Africa 60 years. There is a huge disparity among races in the US up to a decade difference. Part of the reason why healthcare is more affordable in homogeneous countries is due to the lack of diversity.

Black and White is American history, but the multi-culturalism push over the last 15 years is acceptance of all ethnicities, is not and its the push we are seeing today. The push of multi-culturalism is 100% political to try to procure more democrat voters, then you have racist remarks about white people, including from our President who says white people have no culture.

Just an observation, but just about all modern advancements in the last half millennia, and today are by whites from North America, Western Europe and the Jews.

Well, how about this.

I trust you're not talking about diversity in a financial portfolio, or diversity in your vegetable garden when you say you've never seen diversity as a strength.

How about diversity in a University student body? You strive to attract the best musicians, the best engineering students, the best athletes, the best leaders, the best premed students, the best researchers, etc.

Which is what Universities do. When they say they want a "well rounded" student body, they don't want each student well-rounded. They want a huge diverse pool of excellent individuals, who cover ALL the diverse bases of achievement.

Diversity in their population ensures excellence.

Sure, look @ Japan, for instance. Nearly a single ethnicity, hardly any immigration (some forced - slaves & POWs - during the unfortunate wars of expansion into Korea, Manchuria, China & other ill-gotten goods, to be sure). Successful @ export economy post-WWII.

& yet they're diminishing in population from year to year. Along with Russia, most of Europe, I believe. Most of the Western countries are @ or dropping below replacement birth numbers - & once you start down that road, it's very hard - if not impossible - to reverse course.

The Nazis & Imperial Japan were certain that their near-monolithic (ethnically, culturally) states would prevail over the mongrel US & the West. But they were wrong.

From the time of large immigration to the US, immigration has been helpful in bringing labor to the US.
It could still be helpful - there are still lots of Help wanted signs out. But we need to revise/reform our immigration process, & improve education for new immigrants & their children - to help them fit into US economy/society.

Or we can try to solve the Japanese & other Western national population crises on our own soil.

Diversity at Universities is entirely about money. The United States has the best colleges in the world, and countries are willing to pay full tuition to send their people too.

A sad joke that is mainly used to force and bully group-b into the sphere of group-a.

Group-b wants this, so when they are injected into group-a's orbit, they can then
work on grabbing power for themselves, then cast-out group-a or make group-a powerless.

Multiculturalism makes a society less cohesive.
