The idea that a business can’t operate without half its workforce isn’t true, and to think that Musk doesn’t know what he’s doing is great stuff. Musk has already shown how huge amounts of money have been unnecessarily spent. Those with any business sense would realize trimming the fat is simply doing business and happens all the time. They simply want Musk to fail.

By virtually all accounts, Musk's bid for Twitter was way, way over market value, which is why he tried to renege on it. Laying off a huge portion of a highly technical workforce and driving others to leave at a time when recruiting workers is difficult doesn’t just seem foolish, it seems suicidal.
Elon Musk sent frantic e-mails to Twitter employees on Friday morning pleading for help:
“Anyone who actually writes software, please report to the 10th floor at 2 p.m. today,” he wrote in a two-paragraph message which was viewed by The New York Times.
About 30 minutes later Musk sent another email saying he wanted to learn about Twitter’s “tech stack,” which has something to do with a company’s software and related systems, if I understand the article correctly. Then in another email, he summoned people to fly to Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco to meet in person. All this out of the blue directly to all employees? No strategic or operational plan? No directors or middle management or any team structure remaining? Yikes!
Musk wouldn’t be the first wealthy businessman who started believing his own press and then thought he could run something he didn’t understand, only to have it blow up in his face.

Trying to downplay another billionaires successes, while ignoring how successful they both are is great stuff. Folks can’t stop talking about them which plays into their popularity even more…and let’s not forget the owner of that failed casino, and much like sOOO many other successful businesspeople that have had a failing business, he still turned himself into a billionaire…and the only billionaire POTUS in history, and folks can’t stop talking about him. He’s great for Twitter, as we’ve seen with his popularity.
It’s amazing how some folks live in such fear, and have such angst, and now over someone that simply bought a business and has given folks freedom back to express their speech on it.

It's not Elon Musk or his success that bothers me, I could care less. I am allergic to the "genius who can't possibly fail" cult of personality he has crafted over the years, and his defensive fanboys/girls. This now includes conservatives: not because they care, but because Elon (and I must give him credit) has politicized his actions to reach a whole new market category of fans. Do you remember when liberals loved Elon Musk and conservatives either couldn't care less, or mildly disliked him because he was part of the green energy movement? I do.
I keep having to say this, but I love free speech. I don't care if he successfully runs an un-moderated website. IMO, my favorite version of the internet was the "wild west" version in the late 90's/early '00s. Far too sanitized, dull, and predictable.
What I'm doing here is pointing out the observations that:
1. Musk isn't infallible, this purchase and subsequent events IMO have been disastrous, and many great leaders have fallen to their own ego (I think Musk will definitely be fine, and probably Twitter too)
2. Wokeness isn't the cause of the censorship/moderation of a non-governmental business, it's corporations looking for brand-safe ad environments. Profit-motive is to blame for this, not a cabal of blue-haired feminists.
3. Conservative' (not all) defensiveness of Musk is basically a mirror-image of liberals' reactive hatred of Musk simply because he adopted a conservative following, with all the same self-unawareness. Cults of personality are gross.
Just learned Twitter's Copyright Infringement detection team/software is down. Apparently folks are tweeting entire feature films. Can't wait for the phone call Elon's going to get if the new Disney "Wakanda" film gets released in the wild...
