Religions greatly vary in what they believe, so maybe you should really take a look at what the different faiths believe, and look for one that will be accepting of who you are. Now, if you are going into churches to "challenge" their beliefs, you get what you deserve.

Back in the 50's before more modern studies vindicated the injustices, most usually brought in the name of religion.
