How would you vote?
I lean left but not registered...and I have in the past and will again in the future.

If there were a candidate of either party who was dedicated to protecting civil liberties, (voting rights, anti-discrimination laws, gay marriage) and at least not go any further right with any attempt to ban abortion nationwide; while also vigorously opposing the march of cultural marxism (defund police, math is racist, CRT, gender ideology, kids being told to keep secrets from parents in order to enable stealth indoctrination), i'd vote for in a heartbeat over the people who currently control either party.

I just dont have confidence either party has the brains to nominate such a person.

One persons "moderate" is another persons "wacko".

I am an independent so I cannot vote, but the Republican Party besides local Maricopa County Republicans will not get my vote. Too many Trump bootlickers, Trump apologists or Trump supporters. There really aren't "moderate" Republicans anymore because they have been cast out as "RINOs."

Our country has become way too polarized. Republicans won’t even vote for moderates in their own party these days.

Sadly, there are no longer any moderates within the Democrat Party, so for myself, I will have hope for an America First Republican to rum and hopefully win.

This has been an interesting poll and discussion. Thank you to all who voted.

At this time, we have 25 Democrats and 35 Republicans responding.

17 of the Democrats (68%) said they would vote for a moderate of the other party.

8 of the Republicans (23%) said they would vote for a moderate of the other party.
What does this say about partisanship in America, or at least on CD?

Admittedly, "moderate" is difficult to define. I think of it as being near the center of the views of the electorate, and thus can change over time. For example, when Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980, he was thought of by many as being extremely conservative. However, his landslide victory in 1984 showed that he was not out of step with the mainstream after all. The American public, it seemed, had become more conservative.

Not many years ago, if you were in favor of gay marriage, you would be considered extremely liberal. Today, that is the position of most Americans and so I would call that a moderate position. And remember, the Republicans who wanted to abolish slavery in the 1860s were referred to as "Radical Republicans."
