Ok. Two people. Two people between him and the young black men.
If you go one direction or the other, all you encounter is one person between him and them.
He was not "in the back of a large crowd", at all.
You are the one who keeps screaming that he was leading a racist mob. For that matter there is a pretty young girl right behind young Jerry. Was she part of the racist mob?
Spoiler
I never claimed he was " in the back of a large crowd".

This was joining a racist threatening mob that was trying to frighten off the small defenseless group of black students who would be sharing their school.
And he is there, in the front line. A leader.

Walk him forward, and you only have to go through ONE person to get to the two black students in the foreground of the picture.
In the post of yours that I'd first commented on you stated that he was at the front, now you claim he's one person back. Look at the crowd, it's not that deep, he's on the back end of that crowd and he's looking at the angry guy with the cigarette in his mouth. He's not being a "leader" of a "racist treating mob", there is absolutely no malice on his face, just curiosity.

One person back, is the front.
If you're at a rock concert, and there is one person in front of you before the stage, do you consider yourself "in the back". No, you don't.

If you look back through video of the angry mobs facing the small contingents of black students being integrated into white schools, you'll see PLENTY of pretty well-groomed white girls with their faces twisted in rage screaming racial epithets. Being a pretty girl doesn't preclude racist hate, Shadow.

I would like honesty. It seems like he's basically saying he saw a crowd gathered and was curious about what the interest was.
It actually would be interesting, to hear his take on this, his perspective, and why he was there front and center with the young men shouting ugly racial slurs while these vulnerable students were escorted in.
Maybe a story of how originally he hated them, but an anecdote about something that might have changed his mind. Or an admission that frankly, they had no idea the hell they were putting these other young men through.

This is what you are going with. He's not guilty because he is not "in the front row" and you can tell "there is absolutely no malice on his face". Priceless.
