Yes, that should put the state pretty much out of business. There are a lot of insane people in charge of things. Some years back they would have been safe in locked psych facilities, where they belong.

California is easy compared to the I95 BosWash corridor. If I had to pick one I’d refuse were I trucking again, I know which it would be.

CARB makes insane proposals all the time. It's not a given that it will happen anytime soon.

California Mulls Ban On All Gas And Diesel Truck Fleets

California’s Air Resources Board (CARB) has laid out a plan to ban all diesel-powered trucks that would cause inflationary ripples throughout the entire economy.

The plan would mandate that all new trucks operating around busy railways and ports be zero emission vehicles by 2024 – while all diesel trucks would be phased out by 2035, and eventually, banishing every truck and bus fleet from California roads by 2045, where feasible, according to SFGATE.

Sounds like WINNER to me. They should go for it.

And this is not because of EV...it's because the CA ports are still backed up.
Go full bore EV and you won't get many 18 wheelers pulling in to those ports to haul off stuff.

CA may be cutting off their nose too quick here.
California is still innovative--even if it is taking advantage of federal policy. I'd need more than your word. Do you think the Chinese ships are going to bypass CA to go to Alabama? Is the Panama cannal deep and wide enough? IDK, maybe. Something needs to give if the back-up persists. It is a worldwide issue. California is like a nation state--more or less. A big market that capitalism isn't going to ignore. Change is the only constant. Cheers.

Just more brain dead virtue signalling. Let them ban ICE vehicles, because then people will pay for their stupidity when brown out and black outs take place, and no can drive to work or deliver food to the store shelves.

Even the electric car makers have admitted that if we ever replaced all cars with electric, fossil fuel usage would remain flat. This is why big oil can jump onboard with the EV craze and diversify their profits. They know that fossil fuels will always be needed to manufacture products. The small independent oil producers might fall into bankruptcy, but the big multi-national oil companies will be around for a hundred years

It was reported that 95% of electric vehicles are still on the road. The other 5% made it home.
