Does a modern VP really need to be a naturally born citizen? Originally, the VP was just the person who got the second highest number of votes for president. So it made sense that they needed to have the same requirement. That’s not true for today’s process.
since the VP takes over if the POTUS leaves office for any reason i think it's reasonable that the requirements be identical.
i'd actually like to see the SCOTUS weigh in on both the definition of "natural born citizen" ( US citizen at birth or ??? ) and the requirement of 14 years residency ( collective years? consecutive? the immediate previous 14, the first 14 or ???? ).
DeSantis is too soft to ever be President. He'll never survive a General Election.
Trump is the only Republican capable of winning the General Election in this era, because he never apologizes.
Once you apologize, you lose.
And today's hateful media will always corner the Republican candidate, and force a meek man like DeSantis to apologize for whatever dirt is attached to him.
I don't know, maybe I missed it. I don't see DeSantis as being "a meek man." Haven't seen him apologize under pressure yet. He got plenty of backlash during Covid from the media and Covidians. He got plenty of backlash with the Disney thing, and also his stance on keeping FL woke-free. Did he back down?
I'll watch Trump this time, but really think he's overplaying the "witch hunt" thing. People are tired of it. He should ignore that and start telling people specifically what he wants to accomplish if elected.

Bingo…there’s nothing weak about DeSantis. He’s gotten backlash for the last year and counting and has handled it perfectly.

Eh, DeSantis is a mixed bag. His main asset is his strong anti-Covid mandates position and that is no small matter.
But DeSantis has done nothing to repeal or, at the least, refuse to enforce the State of Florida’s Red Flag gun confiscation law which is extremely troubling. And he is another bought-and-paid-for Zionist who signed a draconian anti-First Amendment State law prohibiting the criticism of Israel in Florida’s schools and colleges. He also does not want to withdraw from NATO and heaps praise on Zelenskyy.
Running mates don't often make much of a difference, but I think Musk would broaden Trump's reach, because Musk has such a fanatical fan base, and would help Trump with the younger voters and nerds.
As a Republican, Trump needs to move on. I like Musk, but I think he can get more done in the private sector, not as president. I also don't think a man like Musk could ever be under anyone especially someone like Trump.

Musk wasn't born in the USA and couldn't fulfill the main requirement of a VP. I'm hoping Trump decides against running.
