RealPAge has more effect on the rents charged than politicians.

Those algorithms control what we pay for rent and homeowner insurance. Next time you are in a conversation about your ever increasing HOI replacement cost ask your agent if he can tweak the number that comes up for replacing your house. You already have the lot.

Exactly. Husband's company builds some apartments. Once those algorithms came into being the rents almost doubled at times.

We can blame Biden...but rents herre in South Carolina were soaring long before Biden.

It's supply and demand people.

But I thought globalization, and the Federal reserve should keep higher prices, and inflation from happening.

Not in this case.

The population of South Carolina in 2021 was 5,190,705, a 1.17% increase from 2020.
The population of South Carolina in 2020 was 5,130,729, a 0.52% decline from 2019.
The population of South Carolina in 2019 was 5,157,702, a 1.3% increase from 2018.
The population of South Carolina in 2018 was 5,091,702, a 1.29% increase from 2017.
How in the world is there increased demand when the population didn't move much?

Home ownership has been between 72.0 and 73.6 from 2017-2021

Of course we can blame Biden if one is honest. Trump was a big problem too. All those Covid handouts. The three checks and the $600 a week boost for unemployment. That's what happens when the money supply is inflated. At least the interest rates are going up. That will help slow this nonsense.

Republicans offer no solutions.

Their biggest plan to save America is open up a pipeline to ship oil to the Gulf of Mexico, that would carry like 1/100 of OPEC's production. And that's going to halve the cost of gas, eliminate inflation, etc.
