Or are there people that were always on twitter and just now allowed to say what they want?
According to Musk's graph there was a huge spike the week he bought it and then it dropped off. So it seems your narrative doesn't follow what he is saying.

But only if it is speech Musk thinks is free.

Not saying he wasn't wrong to ban Ye/Kanye -- just pointing out that he did.

It is wise for advertisers not to commit before they know how this shakes out. If it works, they will come flooding back. They don't follow principal. Businesses are ruthless. It is only about profit, equity price, and market share. Other than that, they don't care. The more they act like they care, the less they genuinely do.

Musk himself has admitted that Twitter active users are dropping (I think they were dropping before he bought, and that is part of the reason he tried to back out).

Companies will come back if the 'active uers' don't drop by too many.

So the stunt to release the thought process of banning the Post and then reinstating the Post.....might create a short term activity boost...but sustaining it is different.

I think Musk has to bck down a little. Let Twitter be Twitter. Implement his policies that he thinks work to improve free speech and let the users decide if they like the new environment.
