Her students are no different than any who come from a bilingual household. The parents expect their children to learn proper English in school, even if they themselves don't know the language rules. This is what school is for.
Students need to know the language that the wider society operates on. This teacher's ideas will only hold them back.

According to the article she is tenured. Tenure has become a shield to protect bad teachers and professors making it more difficult to have the removed. Language isn’t about race.

but what about eliminating white supremacy in the classroom? after all, our attorney general stated that white supremacy is the biggest democracy threat and apparently it’s everwhere. thankfully brave teachers are standing up to the rules that keep marginalized groups down.
I've just finished watching 'The Wire' for the fourth or fifth time. Often referred to as one of the best television series ever... it almost certainly wouldn't be made today. Much too realistic for a lot of folks.
