Did the crime increase more than the general population gain?

Do you have any other cities that defunded police?

Uhh, so a PD getting less money this year than last year is not DEFUND, when the politicians were promising to DEFUND that exact department?

LOL.

I mean really? The last thing that should be defunded is public safety, that's literally the main role in government. You know this right? It's not paying salary wage increases for bureaucrats and unions, right? Hello?

In current times there are numerous reasons. Machine politics for one. Also young(er) demographics ~ could actually resort to a change from the current short term trend of about 50 years. If you study politics long enough you will realize that those that see trends as forever facts, always are the ones that are surprised when things change.

Now that tech has caught up to human wishes and desires, living near a job is not necessary anymore. So we're going to see major and massive changes to the calculation. Rising crimes and further degradation of public schools in urban centers will create yet another suburban/exurban surge.

All of those liberal white college educated suburban kids that moved to the city and displaced urban residents will likely end and perhaps reverse.

Look at dark blue Metro NYC. Staten Island, Long Island and the Hudson River Valley, is now Red. Why is that? Metro NY is "woke", why are they voting GOP now? Hmmm
