Oh, I don't know... I don't really like watching any sports, but baseball is the only one that isn't boring to me and I can stand to sit and watch for more than about thirty seconds. IMO, it's much more of a "thinkers" game to watch. Lot's of math and stats involved in the play-by-play. Lot's of numbers. Not just a bunch of lugs trying to kill one another. Then there is basketball and soccer, which make me dizzy and tired just watching... back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. You want to talk about boring!
I always laugh when people call baseball a "thinkers" game... Because one of the Big problems with baseball is how much time they get to "think". All that "thinking" is why the games drag on so long.
I appreciate people who have to "think" under time pressure. Like an offensive or defensive coordinator in football who has to call in a play and a defense and get it communicated to all eleven of his players in less than 40 seconds. And they have to do this on every play.
Meanwhile it takes a baseball manager 40 seconds to just waddle to the mound to "think" with his pitcher.
Sports have been "rigged" for a long time. With literally billions of dollars exchanging hands daily, how would anybody believe in the integrity of the game? It's too tempting and easy to make games go a certain way.
Next thing you know some crazy person will suggest even the World Cup is fixed...
No chance. I mean Qatar put up the best bid for the WC. It was so great, that they had to move it to the winter to avoid potential heat related deaths in the stands and field during the 120F+ summer temps in Doha. I'm sure there were absolutely no improper gifts or bribes to FIFA officials.
Baseball is so boring that 3 posts in we have to start talking about other sports.
Playoff baseball is really entertaining. Every AB and pitch count seems crucial in the game/series.
Now mid-season games, that really mean nothing in a 146 game season...yeah those are long and generally boring, but still fun to attend. It's a great excuse to play hooky from work, drink beer and eat hot dogs on a random Wednesday afternoon.
But then again I'm a cynical Cleveland sports fan, so I see conspiracies and biases everywhere in the professional sporting world.
Doesn't help that MLB's biggest advertisers are betting sites, and local games are shown over cable networks owned by casinos.
I honestly can't believe this isn't more of an issue or topic of discussion. It hard to believe that the relationship between sports teams and betting sites/casinos isn't a huge problem and won't lead to massive corruption/manipulation of results (if it already hasn't)
Pre and post-game shows used to be predictions and analysis. Now its Fantasy picks and betting lines. I guess no one watches the games for sheer enjoyment anymore.

That would mean possibly even the players could be in on it? Okay fine. I am done with all sports except pro wrestling.
Hey, to each their own, I don't care if you like to watch the QVC channel for entertainment, not my business.
It's a VERY important distinction however to focus on MLB and just set the sport aside from the discussion.
Imagine that the Superbowl (for example) currently gets 60mil viewers and you step into a time machine to 2070 and it's got 20mil viewers despite the population being 70% more. Would anyone call that a well run operation?
It's interesting. Baseball does very well with white, middle age, upper and way upper income men which helps explain why a number of baseball attendance and viewership metrics appear weak to horrible while baseball remains the number 2 most valuable league in the world behind only the NFL and ahead of the NBA at 3.
To your point tho. will MLB be able to continue its run into the future?

Tune in next year...........no shifts, pitch clocks, de-facto batter's clocks and limits on pick-off attempts.

I agree MLB playoff games are awesome.
