I feel like some people here don’t have an ounce of compassion towards those they disagree with politically. It sounds insane to me, but I believe some people would choose an animal over an “enemy” if given the choice of saving one. Honestly, I personally believe the left would be more likely to choose their pet. Mainly because they are further removed from Biblical Christianity in general, that elevates mankind far above other creatures.

Maybe we should start with a baseline, would you save your own dog who is your best friend, or a total stranger?, ethical dilemma. Then go down the line from there, to strangers you are opposed to, and people you just plain hate.

Hypothetically even if I had a dog that I absolutely loved, I'd definitely save my brother or my mom before them, obviously, if I had to make the choice. And it would be the saddest, worst day of my life. Probably would save most other people too, and it would be a really horrible choice to have to make. One hopes to never have to make.

I think I'd be tempted to save my dog, though, over Herschel Walker, in that hypothetical. Since Herschel, (who I've never met) plays Russian roulette anyway, I mean. Right? My dog values their own life more... just saying. I dunno, I'd probably still have to save Herschel.

Or we could change it to, like, the worst criminal scumbag person imaginable, vs your own dog. I think probably a lot of people would save their dog, who is a loved family member, even if they're a dog. Right? If we're talking about a murderer or something like that.

For the most part, I think any sane person would try to save a fellow human being over a dog, even if they're a total stranger, and probably even if they don't like or agree with that person very much. But you're talking about emotion-based decisions, that would have to be made in an instant, which would probably not have a lot of rational thought. And it's totally a hypothetical.

This thread is clearly more interested in the question of, 'who hates each other more, the left or the right'.

I would choose to save the life of my dog whom I know loves me unconditionally. Also, I'm pretty sure my dog doesn't view me as a Nazi, or a deplorable, or whatever other slur my political opponent has spent the last 6 years referring to me as.

I'd borrow a viscous dog to move on anyone foaming-the-mouth over politics, just to bring silence. Not sure if that fits the thread.

Yes, but I would save my dog's life over anyone's life including my own.

Politics would not be a factor in this whatsoever.

I mean..if some degenerate breaks into my house in order to "transfer the wealth" of my household to themselves and my German Shepherd decided to school them in the wrongness of their thinking, I would be o.k. with my dog doing that.

If I had to choose between saving the life of someone wishing to do me harm or saving the life of my faithful companion who would gladly lay down her life for me.....yeah, I know which one I would choose.
