I don't think she ditched the Dems as much as to make herself more electable for re-election and a possible presidential run. She's sees how close many of the races are in Arizona and nation. Basically it's a 50/50 split. But she's naive if she thinks in terms like 'bipartisianship' , moderate or centerist are attainable. They are fancy terms for the ability to make the smoke filled backroom deal. That's it.

She will not caucus with Republicans however. She sites the polarization in DC, where each party is becoming more extreme, & wastes most of their time fighting the opposing political party, rather than solving problems for the American people.

Geez, I wish a lot more would follow her, and form an Independent Party.
And another one wakes up.

Democrats lose "majority" of the Senate now?

How does that play out.

Manchin could make a BIG statement and preserve his job if he 'transitions' to a Republican! LOL

Let's do it! I'm in favor of Trans Politicalism! I've done it, I'm sure some of us have done it too!

No, appears Sinema will may still Caucus with the Democrats which would keep it at 51-49, and if she doesn't, the Democrats would still keep a majority as it would be 50-49-1.

..........
I think as long as she caucuses with the Dems nothing changes. That's why they include things 'will still caucus with the Democrats'

The 'independent' label is for PR but it's still the sos as far as the 'two party' system goes.

So after billions of dollars and campaign politics, everything stayed the same in the Senate (50-50) and the GOP took control of Congress. LOL

Not if Sinema and Manchin block Biden's spending.

FWIW, even if she doesn't Caucus with the Democrats it would not change anything, as it would be 50-49-1

It's NOT 51-49 Democrats.

It's 49 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 3 Independents.

Sinema and Manchin voting or not voting with Democrats on certain legislation would have been a possibility regardless of any change in affiliation. My point was regarding who has Majority Control, who has control of Committees, and the overall day to day operations of the Senate will not change.
