In light of the criticism leveled at the FBI for its many alleged failures of due process, circumvention of its own policy and procedures, conducting information leaks to disparage individuals, committing cover-ups of apparent crimes, circumvention of authority invested in other federal agencies, committing conspiracies to effect national and state elections, failure to act in a timely manner on alleged crimes committed by connected United States citizens, failure to pursue internal FBI agents "whistle blowers" allegations and other malfeasance which have become common knowledge, what is to be done now with the Federal Bureau of Investigation?
Certainly fire everybody at the Deputy Department level. The top brass are thoroughly politicized and corrupt, but I would fire every soul and make them all re-apply.
It can't be done. They have blackmail dossiers on everybody who could fire them.
Its not the FBI, or the concept. It is the people currently in charge, that were placed there by other people in charge of them, and so on and so forth.
Elect the right people, get rid of corrupt officials. It will trickle down, and the right people will be put in charge of the FBI, and ensure it is run properly.

The blackmail is only half the story. There is also the threat of killing legislators or the President.

The best idea would be to appoint a Democratic director. Every director since 1924 has been a republican.

Regardless of the impediments (threats, blackmail), "Main Justice" is far more important. They're the ones who decide whether to prosecute the people the FBI identifies as the bad guys. They're the ones who can prosecute FBI agents.

The only way to do it is to clean house at the top and then have Biden and Congress appoint new people to those posts......... oh wait that is the problem now. They are all beholding and working for the Dems.

The concept leads to the people in charge becoming corrupt.
Free countries and national police forces are incompatible.
