Circumstances totally out of my control put me in Denny's last week. I cannot remember the last time I set foot in there.
DH had some senior special, I had a veggie omelet. We did get tea. It was 2.29 each.
The bill for this brunch was $28 plus a 6 bucks tip. You got a bargain. But I'm not gonna go to McDonald's to check it out. One trip to Denny's is all I handle for the next 30 years.
Speaking of Denny's, I'm old enough to remember their direct competitor "Sambo's". It was themed off of some story about a little Indian kid who outsmarted some tigers. The problem was the kid looked a little black and it apparently caused an uproar. Even in the 1970's. I'm not sure if "Sambo" was a racial slur before or after the restaurant was named that. My gut tells me it became a slur after. If it didn't, then shame on Sambo's restaurant.
I just looked up Instacart prices for Publix in Atlanta, and you can get a dozen Publix-brand eggs for $4, after the Instacart price markup. So it's probably around $3 in the store.
Nobody should be eating garbage such as a McDonald’s breakfast. You should be fasting, or perhaps eating a very low carb breakfast consisting of boiled eggs, an avocado, or something along those lines.
Save up the extra 10 dollars you didn’t spend on breakfast, and invest it at the end of the month.
Anyway, our country is way too fat, have you looked around at all the people? Get out of McDonald’s people!
I totally agree. We eat out about once a month and I usually fast afterwards for 18 hours. My ex DIL eats McDonald's on a daily basis and weighs about 150 lbs over what she should way and has all manner of health problems, gee I wonder why.
The quality of fast food has diminished to the point that it should no longer be tolerated by the consumer. There are far better options, including spending some time each week for food prep. For example:
Local butcher:
Australian Wagyu is $8.99lb. I can smash four patties in wax paper, freeze them, and cook one in minutes anytime I want. High-quality food for less, and it's healthier for me.
Same with hot, ground sausage. I think it's either $4.99lb or $5.99lb. I wake up a few minutes earlier, though on my seasoned cast-iron pan and I am eating a sausage biscuit 10 minutes later.
Fast-food restaurants can cease to exist as far as I am concerned.
Hey, different question to the Golden Arches. I remember in the 80s and maybe the early 90s, McDonald's advertising on The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show. Scenes of the tweens doing fun things, maybe the flashback commercial of Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show.
So, two things: have the young always been their target audience? Are they just like the sugary food at the end of the grocery aisle? Secondly, for the "kids" then....and some young adults who also watch Bugs Bunny......are they programmed, still programmed as adults to go to the land of the Golden Arches?

We don't eat fast food other than Ivar's Fish Bar, a local fish & Chips place. We have in our house 4 TVs, and two in our travel trailer.
