We have enough energy to be self-sufficient; the largest section of arable land in the entire world; have friendly borders North and South, and a moat East and West; have the best seaports in the world, both East and West; have such a large network of rivers and water than even Tulsa, OK has access to the open sea, and have so many people who want to come here we have to beat them back at the border.
Plus, people who are born here are citizens, so in spite of our Birth Dearth our population end economy will grow for a very long time.
We'll be fine.

We are not self sufficient in MANY other areas....

Didn't Rome start to turn toward dictatorship when it was still the Roman Republic? Or at the very least, the Roman Republic took the course that turned it into a practical dictatorship?

Eventually though, in a few generations we will start to resemble a Latin American country both economically and demographically. Sort of like a cold weather Brazil.
Not necessarily become a "cold weather Brazil", even if that is a distinct possibility.

Implement tax policies that make it hugely difficult for a household to be worth more than $1/2 billion in current purchasing power terms, then use the taxes gained to give us the best of both worlds: cuttingest edge military equipment and training AND fund upgrades to our infrastructure, social, educational, and medical services. Raising the minimum wage greatly so that hard-working people can finally earn reasonably more than they spend (aka build up net wealth) is also a good way to postpone national decline.

What is ironic is that here in this country there are many that actively seek to destroy America and make it pay somehow for the sins of the past. If/when they get their wish and China takes over its not going to be as easy for these protesters to take to the streets.
America has a Constitution that protects them in their protest. China has prisons to lock you up.

Be careful what you fight for you Anti American Losers because you might get more than you bargained for.
I don't think most Americans realize how far behind China we are when it comes to science fields. The only exception, I might make, is bio-tech, but not even sure about that.

American technology is Facebook and Google search. China actually makes scientific stuff. We "design" it and buy it from them. We can't make it by ourselves.

Biden might be right. The next person to walk on the moon will be a minority woman. Unfortunately, there is a very good chance she will be a Chinese National.

It took Trump to catch on and change American policy. Too little to late even as Biden tries to continue Trump's China policies.

By 2030, or earlier China will be the leading world power.

It is sad and funny watching the Biden Administration threaten China with "serious consequences". Unfortunately, we are about to learn that those "serious consequences" will apply to us not China.

That will hasten China's status as the leading world power. Not good news for planet earth.

I don't think we will need to learn mandarin, but since our country will become a vassal to China, and we will be their de facto slaves, it might by useful to learn that, and anything else you can learn about our children's masters.

And, no, it isn't just the Demoncrats.
There have been plenty of RINO's and "establishment republicans" contributing to our demise.
Because too many believed it could not happen, it is now too late to stop the slide.

For those who fantasize that a civil war or national divorce could fix this, learn the lessons of the wheat and the tares.

Canada and Mexico might split it, with Texas gaining land and resorting back to a republic.

No changes any time soon though. That's Chicken Little stuff.

No country is self sufficient in all areas.

But the two big ones - food and energy - are found here in America in amounts large enough to maintain our population.
That's not true for China, who must import 65% of its energy and a large portion of its food. Or India, who must import 53% of its energy. In fact, countries who would be able to feed and maintain their population without outside assistance are rare.

China's best days are behind it.

China grows 95% of its own food. They import the rest and are the second largest exporter of food behind the US. They have 1.4 billion people they are feeding so they currently produce a lot more food than the US does to feed 330 billion. As their population ages and declines (Less food will be required), and their farming continues to improve they may wind up being competitive in the exportation of food.

If the "American Empire" goes down, who will take over?
I don't know, but it will be better than what we have now because we won't have half the country fighting for the bad guys.
