A 17 year arrested for a violent jugging attack that left a woman paralyzed confessed to the crime and complained about the victim's Gofundme page in a jail house recording. He is also scared he might get sentenced to 20 years.
He cited several examples, like that of Clayton Brown, who was accused of shooting two people in March of last year and who allegedly shot another person while out on bond a few months later — only to have two of the charges dismissed and receive deferred adjudication on the third.
And Anthony Conway, who is accused of murdering and robbing a taco truck owner last month.
"Anthony Conway about a year earlier had shot someone in the face twice and robbed them," Gamaldi said. "They dropped that down to unlawful carrying of a weapon and gave him six months in jail."
Jeez, these courts/da's/whoever wearing the kid gloves should be held personally responsible.
The real irony is that being soft on crime is supposed to be "equity" and helping certain groups but those are the very communities hit hardest by crime.

Exactly. It really boggles the mind. Black people are just like White people in that most of them just want to live a decent, safe and happy life but there are always some losers, bad apples that would spoil it for all. It is a really basic concept. If we want to be happy and safe LOCK UP the Criminals.
That 17 year old punk that attacked that poor woman deserves the 20 years he could get. He has no empathy, no sympathy. He is like a predatory animal. He should be locked up because if he isn't there is little doubt that he will go back to his purse snatching ways.
This is the kind of punk that will keep terrorizing society until he tries his attitude on cops and they are forced to use deadly force to stop him and then we all know what happens when the Police shoot a Black suspect no matter what he is doing including trying to kill someone.
The courts need to get tough on punks like this because they are not only protecting innocent victims but they are also protecting the punk to from meeting an untimely end.

It's the government's way of suggesting minorities are more prone to crime/violence. The government has been racist since it's inception, so it's par for the course when you think about it.

Exiled for life to Northen Alaska...at hard labor.
Make a big mine up there somewhere.
Don't produce enough that day...your porridge & firewood ration is reduced.
They can all live together in a big insulated building...open bays, lined with bunks.
The law there is the same one they lived by: None.
If that is what happened to you for committing crimes such as this...there would be a lot less of it.

I can understand a number of reforms like requiring body cams to cut down on abuses or no bail for non-serial, non-violent offenders.
It's the OTHER stuff that got tacked on that bothers me.
The other big consideration is that I think with the backlog of Covid cases that a lot of prosecutors just started taking plea deals left and right to clear the cases out.
