Like when cutting spending never seems to decrase the deficit when Republicans are in office.
Laughable.
The democrats have put us in such a hole that trying to shrink the deficit is like trying to empty the ocean with a bucket. Plus, republicans have not been consistently in power in long enough stretches to make a noticeable difference. So, yes, this is all on the democrats.
If everything holds together after that, fire 25% more.
End every dime being sent to any foreign country for any reason.
I agree with very aggressive headcount reduction for the Feds...DC's grossly overbloated.
I like same % across-the-board cuts because it reduces the months/yrs of bickering on what to cut...our time is up on overspending.
Some will argue that <1% of our annual budget goes to foreign aid, but that is still $63B not going to help SS.
Also, the $63B doesn't include the $'s we spend defending other countries all around the globe, which is a much larger amout than the $63B. We've sent $50B+ in military stuff to Ukraine in yr 1 of their Putin war.
That $113B would sure look nice in our SS trust fund account.
Anybody who put a yellow ribbon sticker on their car is responsible for the 2+ trillion dollar part of the debt due to invading Iraq.
Don't be coming back at me with but Hillary voted for it, too. What would have been the response to any politician who said no Dick Cheney? It was nothing but a get even for 9-11. Why didn't we go after Saudi Arabia?
Calculate all the interest that borrowed money war will cost. Now figure in the wounded. How much will their care cost?
Most people in my state can't stand the federal government. But they darn sure have their hands out when a storm hits. FEMA and all the other federal hand outs are never rejected due to deficit financing.
Much of Fedgov's spending is under the umbrella of "touch it and you are starving granny", so just forget that part as ever being eligible for any cuts.
The rest, well, good luck cutting it.........screams of protest will erupt.

The deficit has never been reduced when Republicans were in charge. Spending never goes down when Republicans are in charge. They only reduce taxes, which puts us more in debt. This is definitely a bipartisan problem.
But only 25 years ago, with a Democrat President and Republican Congress, we had a surplus for 4 glorious years. Why not go back to the budget of 2000, adjusted for inflation?

A 10% budget cut would probably not be felt by most organizations. Those families/households already on the edge would feel it the most.
Just declare a 10% budget cut for all government departments. They can lay off some people.
Maybe the Texas highway department can look at the contractors they are hiring. We have been in a construction zone for 8 years. Watching every day we see one guy with a shovel in a hole in the ground while 4-7 guys watch. That's 24/7/365.
There are 195 countries in the world and we provide aid to 157. Why? We can't afford it.
The amount of foreign aid has been around $40 billion per year for a long time. That money buys a lot of good will, gives the US influence, and creates jobs for Americans. that's right, jobs for Americans. The foreign aid money, other than some cash that goes to Israel and Egypt, generally provides infrastructure and similar projects. Those projects are done by US companies. When we lived in Egypt in the early 90's, the US was funding the installation of 2 million telephone lines in Cairo. The project was done by AT&T, and all of the project management and supervision was done by Americans. The amount of goodwill from that project was huge, as it eliminated the 5 to 10 year backlog for Egyptians to get a phone line.
