This may be a first for me, but I am sort of agreeing with the other side. I am gay and have known for most of my life. For a long time I have felt that if we gay people, many of them men, did not live so flamboyant that it would make the image of a gay male less obvious. I have had friends that did not realize that I am gay and when they do, they say I do not act like or or sound like it. They are right, I do not. All those are are affectations. I guess one could say and some have said that I act normal. All I can say, is what is normal? I personally do not and never have liked gay pride events, but to each his own. I happen to like old fashioned country parades instead; Maybe that is why most people think I am straight. I am also in a monagamous relationship of 29 years and am not in the dating circle, gay or straight.

I think if Roaddog had said "many" gays are their own worst ememies, he could be fairly accurate in his perception. Affected mannerisms like those of Jack and Will on " Will and Grace" and those of many, but not all gay males, make many people think all gay men are like Will or Jack and the same goes with TV representations of Lesbians. I guess what I am getting at is that what one sees and reads does not represent the total. Sorry if I am a little off subject.

How do you feel about Girls Gone Wild? the Darwin Awards? Burning Man? Big Rock Concerts? Raves? Mardi Gras? They are all hetero functions where you get people doing the same thing.

You can always find outrageous people in all walks of life, in all sexual orientations.
You're just a bigot who chooses to malign others who act out for fun.

Jealous of the buff bodies?

Honestly. And Im not gay or anything. I just think its pretty stupid when people just cant let other people live happily, and instead look at them and try to figure out "whats wrong with them."
It has nothing to do with telling people how to live. I am only pointing something out to discuss. I am not a gay-hater and not one to tell anyone how they should live their life.

What I am pointing out is that homosexuality is not normal. Yes its accepted and thrown in your face at times, but if you think about it, is not normal and there should be a cure for it. But the cure should there for those that want it. Just think if it as Autism, we DO want to help those that have it dont we?

How in the world can you argue that? There is not way.

How can it be an honest desire? Could it be curiosity? Why not a disfunction or a disease or something less hurtful.... lets' call it not normal.

You have to think about something here, if this was normal, then why when one stumbles on a site that sells adult movies, why is there a separate category for "gay/lesbian" as you would see "bestiality" or "anima"... etc?

So now anybody who thinks that live action gay porn on every street corner for all the children to see is an intolerant worthless bigot? Just to let you know, I do have a problem with some of the hetero functions you mentioned. That kind of behavior shouldn't be going on in public, whether its homo or hetero. Its hard to believe we are in a time in America where its ok to have gay sex orgies in public in broad daylight but you can't display the Ten Commandments or a nativity scene in public. May God have mercy on this sick culture.

Men wanting to act like women is NOT normal. Think about it. Hairdressing, dancing and fashion.... those are all things women love.

What purpose does it serve for a man to act like a woman? Do we all of a sudden have a shortage of women and we need gay people? Fine if that they way gay people are born, wanting to do these things. I have nothing against them. But I will say one thing, its NOT normal.

You see normal everywhere you go, when you use a public restroom, they are separated by signs that read "MEN" and "WOMEN". Why do you think that is?

Has it occurred to you that those folks are fine within the context of their genetic makeup, and your perception of them is actually the problem?

Negotiator75-

I understand what you're saying, but there are a lot of gay folks out there contrary to what you may believe. I know a lot of people who have come out of the closet in the past 6-7 years and a few of them are in their 40's. Men and women who have children, families from the years they played it straight. People are seeing that homosexuality is not as abnormal as they thought - gays were just afraid to come out.

What I'm saying is homosexuality is pretty common. Society is accepting it due to the growing percentage of our population who are coming out. Ever wonder why areas with a dense population (NYC, Boston, San Francisco, DC, etc) are more socially liberal than those in rural Kansas, Idaho, Mississippi? Less people per square mile, less gays, less tolerance.

What about straight men who fill the same roles?
How about women who work construction?

So now jobs are either hetero or homosexual?
Sorry but you need to get a grip.

I'm straight and fill the traditional role of a man as an engineer. I'm the only woman in my workplace. I'm held in high esteem by (most of) my coworkers, staff and other members of the community.
I don't like fashion, my hair is long and I wear it pulled back, and I don't dance. Sorry, but your stereotypes just don't fit everyone.
Gee, what does that make me?
