"I've been begging this department to give the Mission what it deserves in terms of police presence all year long," Ronen said. "And I have been told time and time and time and time again there are no officers that we can send to Mission."
"It hurts. And I feel betrayed by the department. I feel betrayed by the mayor. I feel betrayed by the priorities of the city," the Democratic politician added.
The speech contradicts her stance on policing in 2020. After the George Floyd protests, Ronen tweeted that she believed "strongly" that San Francisco's police force needed to be reduced.
"I want to make it clear that I believe strongly in defunding the police and reducing the number of officers on our force," Ronen wrote. "For decades we’ve had an imbalance in our city’s budget, with hundreds of millions of dollars going to SFPD to have them do work they are not qualified to do."
She is one of the 11 SF supervisors who should be directed to the nearest mental hospital - given their recent vote to give every black resident of the city, $5,000,000 cash for 'slavery reparations'.

Wow… Talk about a set of stones!! Defund the police and do everything in your power to chase away the police you have AND now cry that you feel betrayed? This is a perfect example of the liberal mind and how it functions. First, not taking responsibility for your own actions and blame others for the actions you took and force onto others.
Well, in the end, good luck in ever getting the numbers of cops you need to keep your city safe since you are part of the problem.
We all told the Leftists this will happen when you defund/weaken/demoralize the police and empower the criminals, but they argued. Now we see the results and of course, the Leftists are nowhere to be found.

Don’t you just love the Chinese woman supervisor (Connie Chan) voting to give each black person $5M when her own people have been the victims of anti-Asian violence at the hands of blacks. Liberalism really do mess your mind up.
I doubt that she is self aware enough to realize the connection between advocating for police defunding and the increase in crime and societal chaos. Highly ideological people rarely admit the failure of their ideas and policies. It would take a bit of self examination, self doubt, contrition, and responsibility. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Progressive exhibit these policies. In her mind, the resulting crime and chaos are not the result of her ideological positions, but something akin to the forces of nature- it just happens. And somehow it’s the fault of the police. And probably white supremacy. Definitely white supremacy. A good progressive has to throw that in there somehow.
What's the big deal!? Just use some of your $5M payment to hire personal security and bodyguards! Although it might be tough once a loaf of bread starts costing $10k in SF.
