The Republican party, especially DeSantis, has abandoned policy for "woke."

Quote:
When Silicon Valley Bank went bust earlier this month, Republicans pounced. The bank, which quickly received assistance from the federal government, was “too woke to fail,” according to Missouri Senator Josh Hawley. The brahmins at The Wall Street Journal editorial board also suspected that wokeness was what led the bank to fail: They fretted that the bank may “have been distracted by diversity demands”—that is to say, that there were too many women, minorities, and … for some reason, veterans on the board to adequately measure financial risk.

Of course, it couldn't possibly have been just poor management.

Good heavens! What a strange idea!
(later evidence showed they had not retained enough cash to fund a possible run on the bank)

Well, they're running off the back of Trump. He was a fiscal disgrace. Third highest deficit increase as percentage of GDP in the nation's history. The other two at least had a pretty plausible excuse as there was WW2 and the Civil War. Trump had, well, a what he described as a Democrat hoax to make him look bad. Despite considering it a hoax he went full hog on the welfare handies to try and buy himself re-election. Even Biden has managed to do better, shrinking the government by 1 Trillion. It's not that he's brilliant or anything. It's just I don't even know if AOC could manage to do as terrible a job as Trump did. Eventually the Republicans started to try and control Trump's out of control welfare spending but it was way too late to really limit the damages to where they a platform to run on fiscal responsibility or common sense. Telling everyone they don't need to pay rent and giving them UBI is not common sense.

They're leaning in on what they have which is the sense that there's a culture war. We need to label David pornography and stop Disney from redecorating a ride. That's the critical issue that Americans face. We need to ensure that no American ever sees a Johnny wearing a skirt and lipstick. As ridiculously as the left is nowadays, gotta hand it to the Republicans. They've really grabbed going woke by the horns and upped the game with it.

Why Republicans Abandoned Their Economic Message
Puzzling.
So far in this thread I have not seen (1) that the Republican have, indeed abandoned their economic message or (2) what the message was that they abandoned.

You really need to get in a liberal mindset to understand their "message". That would involve getting really drunk, stoned, sleep deprived, and hypoxic. Then their ideas might start to make sense.

You'd have to be living under a rock to not see that Bidenflation is killing us and that things were much better under Trump. Also it is wise for Republicans to attack wokeness more than the economy since wokeness is more repulsive to the American voter.

But yeah, if you are stupid enough to get your news from left wing media, you will be so misinformed that it really doesn't matter what message the Republicans are promoting. You will believe the lies of the left wing media.

Woke and financial mismanagement tend to be complimentary, rather than mutually exclusive.

...................... and that happens as liberals abandon any sentiments of common sense or reason in favor of blind obedience to liberal agendas.

To a liberal, insanity and violence are perfectly acceptable, as long as those are supported by liberals.

Humm, if I recall my history, it wasn't liberals who violently sacked our capitol. Or blew up the IRS building in OK, or stripped the long held rights of women. It isn't liberals attacking LGBT people or making drag queens and trans kids into public enemy #1. It isn't liberals trying to return our country to a pre 1800's christian state for white people, or trying to strip Medicare from the most needy.

Nope, it's all republican.

Trump caused the current situation with his massive, unrestricted spending. With his terribly run "lockdowns" that destroyed our country and global commerce. His gutter mobster act reduced international respect to name calling and school yard bullying.

About the only thing you can pin on the left is trying to take our guns and messing up Afghanistan.
