This needs to be said often. How can so called conservatives still call themselves “republicans” when they actually want to increase government censorship? Small, efficient government means let the chips fall where they may.

And they'd probably win. Laws must be applied evenly.

By singling out Disney, DeSantis' actions are retaliatory, plan and simple. It's astounding to be that anyone would think otherwise.

Disney and Reedy Creek was discussed at length several months ago on this board. At no time was anything presented that showed misangement, failure to perform or to take care of their responsibilities or debts. Many said that they are an excellent example of how a governing agency should be run and something that others should follow as an example.

The Governors action is pure political retribution and Disney has one upped him again so now you residents of Florida are going to be paying millions in legal fees as he tries to recoup credibility, which he won't. All these arguments about what Disney represents to you mean nothing, don't like them, don't patronize them.

This topic is how Disney just got the upper hand so Disney 1, DeSantis 0.

My article is from last year so I have not seen that claim recently. It doesn't matter because the legislation indicates the district is not being dissolved, just renamed with a new board. The two counties were against taking over this responsibility for good reason.

Perhaps they(DeSantis and new board) give a generic sentence or two on the matter, trying for a positive spin, with the hope the story goes away during the presidential election cycle. Any fight over power with Disney will continue to make DeSantis look vindictive and it will show that he failed as well. Lose-lose for DeSantis. The board members are going to go silent on this matter shortly. Watch
I detect a lot wishful thinking!

Well the mouse out maneuvered DeSantis with this move and now he is caught with his pants down. Any way you look at it, he was punked. The ball is now in his court.

DeSantis didn’t have a problem with Disney until they voiced an opinion on his restrictions in schools. If special taxing districts are the issue then why didn’t he go after The Villages that is actually larger than Disney and still building homes.

This is pure childish revenge by a governor against a corporation and it backfired on him. Attacking a company that is Floridas highest revenue source over politics is not a smart move.

But he’s not backing down. What does that tell you about the character of this man. Take away his party face and what sort of person must have the last word and use tax payer money in a state that still has huge issues recovering from a hurricane. It has homelessness, crime, lack of teachers and police. Insurance increases that’s going to possibly have some homeowners lose their homes. He’s not addressing things happening in Fl. He’s chasing culture wars for attention. His petty “ego” is hurting Fl. He’s an embarrassment.

Egomaniacs always have to have the last word. It gives them a feeling of power, as if they immediate draw all of the power of the person they are communicating with and become powerful due to it.

If a person is said to have a big ego, it implies that they are perceived to be full of their own importance and think they are better than others. Having a big ego is also often associated with narcissistic tendencies, a superiority complex, and being self-absorbed. In other words, if a person has a big ego, it means that they are very caught up in “me,” “mine,” and “I.”
