https://nypost.com/2023/05/16/toront...r-in-business/ ( A self-described “anti-capitalist” café and coffee shop in Canada named The Anarchist with a “pay what you can” business model will close at the end of the month after just over a year in business.

The Toronto shop, which opened in March 2022, will close on May 30, its owner announced in a statement, blaming a “lack of generational wealth/seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources.) ( MY OP being “anti-capitalist” doesn't pay the rent!)

I will gladly pay you in 3 months for a hamburger today.

Who would have imagined that this business idea wasn't going to make it?

The owner most likely got a job in marketing somewhere. Seems like all the rage now...How not to make money running a business.

What did this guy expect? What bank would loan money to such an experiment? It sounds good but in the real world you have to pay for the goods that you offer for sale, pay for the utilities, pay for the space, pay your employees etc etc...

The owner complaining about not getting the seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources is a riot. What did he expect a Charity? It sounds like the people that were frequenting his shop saw it as a Free coffee charity.

Great on-paper theory about how we can all share and work together meets real world human nature and ends predictably.

I for one would like to thank the owner for at least putting forth the effort and serving as a case study reminder as people tend to forget.

lol @ "Colonial death camp we call Canada".

The dude has a heaping amount of privilege and needs some psychiatric help to deal with his anger and other issues.

The problem is people who think this way refuse to learn. They will make excuses, such as it failed because this guy did " "(fill in the blank)wrong. Or this guy failed to do " ".
