The definition of liberal:
willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas:
tolerant, unprejudiced, broad-minded, open-minded

relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise: "a liberal democratic state"

I would be very proud to say that I am open to new ideas, and support individual rights, civil liberties, democracy and free enterprise. It's the same for woke:

"alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination"
Nothing wrong with that.
Not today. Today’s liberals, especially in universities, will not tolerate differing opinions or ideas. They become violent towards those expressing differing opinions or they will shout over them to prevent their opinions from being heard. If a student’s opinion differs from the professor then the professor grades against the student. In a recent case a professor “required” students pay into an abortion group to get good grades in her class. Today’s liberals are “agree with me or face the consequences”

Woke is nothing more than a buzz word to trigger the right and keep them upset and engaged. It's just part of the rage porn some are so addicted to. I laughed at our friend who came up and said don't buy Coke. "They call it wokeacola." I said who is they and why do they say that? I tried to get a coherent answer and he couldn't even remember why Coke was woke. He remembered the emotion but nothing else. It's a psych op, and a pretty effective one for simpletons. Isn't that the target? Uneducated middle aged and older white men?

You know. It's kind of like the Three Stooges. Women find them dumb. Men think they're hilarious. Some think tank came up with woke. Whoever figured that one out deserves a bonus. It is a pretty effective political tool for those easily manipulated.

I think that small appeal will run its course. Most of us think its just Repubs being cry babies for not wanting to play nice and wallow in hate instead.

In other words, blacks have an innate lack of intelligence. That's racist to its core.
I've never seen this particular interpretation at all, the part where liberals push that blacks be "given equity". Could you please share some links to publications or maybe to interviews?

I always love when leftists get all high and mighty about the definition of “woke” when they try to force everyone to use made-up pronouns like “ze/zir” and/or incorrect pronouns like “they/them,” force words like “cisgender” on us, and/or pre-empt and co-opt other words like “gay” to take on new meaning, or continue on with their effort do dumb down our language by forcing people to speak in sterile and gender-neutral terms (or else they come after you), yet this evolving use of the word “woke” is “bad.”

I know the Democrat talking point is something like “HA HA HA, HE HE HE, YOU’RE STUPID BECAUSE YOU DON’T KNOW THE DEFINITION OF THIS WORD” yet at the same time, these are people who make up words or change definitions of existing words all the time. But I get it; when Democrats do it, it’s smart, okay, and moves the world forward.

please can you simply share publications, citations, or interviews that support your point?

Who are you, my college professor? If this topic is so important to you, why don’t you do the research instead?

Ever hear of Kamallla Harris? How do you like her? She is only in her position because of the left being woke. She is there because of her race and being a woman. She never qualified for the job and you can tell. Now look at our country and the direction is going? How are you liking that? Well it is going in that direction because of this administration's policies which include wokism.

Remember all the statues torn down? Wokism. CRT in schools? Wokism. Justice dept calling people who oppose of CRT in schools terrorists...wokism

Remember all the Dr. Seuss books being banned and movies changing their scenes because of wokism and the left being weak and everything offends them? Wokism.

Gotta love those crazy pronouns. You know there is at least over 70 pronouns. I call it crazy and a waste of our country's time. We need to concentrate on what really matters such as the economy, southern border, fentanyl killing our children, etc. Who the heck thinks having over 70 pronouns is important to anyone? it's not.

Remember that crazy guy that was bald and dressed like a women from stolen clothes he stole from luggage? Wokism. White House hired him just because of his gender and that he wore women's clothes. Wokism.

When you only hire people because they check a box, you don't get quality people. We need to hire those that are best for the job and can do their job well.

See what happed to Target's stock? That is because of ESG ratings. This administration is forcing companies to go Woke which is not working out so well for these companies. Just look at the stock of Budweiser, Target, Kohls and some others. Go Woke go Broke. It's a thing but yet companies still go woke.

Remember how disney is putting in more gay/trans characters in their movies so yound children can view. They are even going in and changing our classic Disney movies and doing such things as making Cinderella bi or whatever.

I could go on and on but woke is not a good thing. It is bad for this country and divides us all and separates us by race, gender, sexual preference. It does not bring us together.

Ever hear the great governor Desantis say he will erradicate wokism. He means it and that would be a very good thing. I'm sure Trump would do the same. So to save our country and save our children, we need it gone.
please can you share publications, citations, or interviews that support your point/position.

Quote:
… The term then gained particular significance and tied itself to the contemporary Social Justice movement in the mid 2010s as it became an activist watchword of the Black Lives Matter movement. There, say following the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the phrase “stay woke” took on the very specific meaning of being aware of the reality (according to critical race Theory) of systemic racism in American society that activists blamed for being at the root of the incident. This has, in turn, led to the term being nearly synonymous with having a critical consciousness as provided through critical race Theory, although it has been appropriated through intersectional thought to apply to other issues of identity relevant to postcolonial Theory, ***** Theory, feminism, and so on. It has since expanded and memefied further and is now seen from the outside as being wholly synonymous with having been converted to a Social Justice critical consciousness. As such, “wokeness” often refers to both critical Social Justice doctrine and the state of having accepted it.

In that “wokeness” has become a term directly associated with the critical consciousness provided by applied postmodern Theories, especially critical race Theory (see also, postmodern, Marxian, Neo-Marxism, Post-Marxism, and Cultural Marxism). As such, it is centrally concerned with being aware of the intersecting systems of racism, sexism, and other forms of alleged societal oppression and analyzing these in terms of privilege. This is most often done, under woke consciousness, by engaging in discourse analysis, especially using close reading, which enables racism (or other systemic bigotries) that are assumed to be present in all situations to then be read into them. This is then treated as proof of the systemic problem that was assumed to exist in the first place (see also, mask). Being “woke” would entail being able to “see” the intersecting web of dominance and oppression that arises from the function of privilege in society and taking up efforts to challenge, disrupt, subvert, deconstruct, or overthrow the existing system in the attempt to bring those unjust intersecting power dynamics to an end (see also, Matrix of Domination).

Quote:
… a critical consciousness, sometimes referred to as “critical literacy” or “social justice literacy” now (see examples below), refers essentially to assuming that society is constructed by systems of power that manifest dominance and oppression mostly in terms of “intersecting” demographic group identities. The slang term for this specific type of critical consciousness, arising since the Black Lives Matter movement propelled it to a widespread meme, is “wokeness.”

When someone has adopted a “critical consciousness,” they are likely to be hypersensitive to issues surrounding race, sex, gender, sexuality, ability status, weight, national origin, and economic class, and they are expected to share this awareness (consciousness raising), often by attempting to expose the “hidden biases,” “unexamined assumptions,” or “inherent contradictions” in the system in order expose its injustices and thus lead to its deconstruction, dismantling, or subversion, i.e., a social revolution. This is most often done by problematizing things, which is to say finding issues (like potential offense or hidden racism—see also, code and mask) wherever they can be found. This mindset begins by rejecting questions like “did racism occur?” and replacing them with “how has racism manifested in this situation?”

The thread should have ended with this post, which about sums it up.

Back in grade school, it wasn't about the same social issues on the playground, but it was the same personality type... we called them "dweebs." They were little unpopular, whiny-assed snots who went out of their way to get attention and be a general pain in the backside.
