DeSantis should have worked with Trump and sought to be his VP running mate. That would be a winning ticket. For whatever reason he has chosen to run against him, and I am skeptical of who he aligns with in the republican party and where his loyalties will lie if he is elected.
Why should Trump be given a preference? He is distasteful to many and maybe DeSantis didn't want to run the risk of his followers threatening to string him up.
Yes, I do. If DeSantis was insulting Trump he absolutely would not be a big enough person to show support for the good of the country despite it. I can't prove it, but I'd bet the house on it. It's not just the left going after DeSantis for going after private business, btw. Culture warriors are happy but actual R conservatives recognize that government punishing private business for its speech is not real republicanism. It's not any kind of Republicanism.
I don't think DeSantis can win with this many contenders in the race. Trump will have his 35% and you have maybe a dozen others who will all split the other 65%.
Being a repub, I disagree with your assumptions and claims.
Also note that Harris' had various allies attacking other candidates over race as well with the phrase "Mayo Pete". Pretty much that was her whole schtick in the primaries....race, race, race, race.
But let's set that all aside, Warren launched vicious personal attacks on Biden and got a cabinet position so that's often just politics. (Hers were gender related).
What's different is that Trump has a big ego and thin skin.
Trump hasn't insulted Ramaswamy, though. DeSantis would look weak if he went to support Trump after Trump insults him over the past couple months.
That’s true. And personally, I would want to distance myself from Trump. People keep saying he’s basically a twin of Trump in his views but IMO that’s not anywhere close to the truth.

This is a pansy method of becoming a leader, he is already in charge of an entire state. The VP does basically nothing anyway. Look at Kamala. Lol

Agree with this. I don’t think anybody wants to touch Trump with a 10ft pole at this point.
