Found this. Thought it was a great analogy of how republicans think compared to democrats.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth and in her eyes, the Republicans exploited the poor, for their own gain. A Liberal professer at her school only encouraged her further.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed, asking him how he could sleep at night, with his 'ill-gotten gain'. Based on the lectures that she had participated in and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his. She often told her father he needed to share his good fortune with the less fortunate, instead of exploiting and profiteering from them.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus, college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."
Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Good lord, after nearly 8 long, nightmarish years of a Republican as president, the last thing someone with a sane mind wants to hear right now is "Welcome to the Republican Party."

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REPUBLICAN

Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards.

He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree- hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn't think he should loose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It's noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dad's; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards.

He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republicans would still be sitting in the dark)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.

He turns on a radio talk show, the host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good (He doesn't tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day). Joe agrees, "We don't need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Stillwater:

Why must YOU imply that someone who does not agree with YOU is INSANE? The OP did not.

There is another thread which implies that the Liberal mind is superior. This is the type of dangerous thinking that fosters hatred.

Ranj:

Joe clutches his heart and dies because for the last 30 years he has been told to consume only unsaturated oils.

Yeah... because civilization was on the decline from water contaminants... Yet, water quality is a capitalist value.

Quote:

Yeah... because the Bayer Aspirin Massacre of '45 killed half the population... Medication standards also happen to be a capitalist value.

Quote:

Yeah right... Henry Ford wasn't on the leading edge of good wages...

You should, however, add the collapse of the auto industry due to the unions.

... Another capitalist value...

Yeah right... because soap's so difficult to make that rather than his neighbor being put to work producing it for locals, supporting a boatload of overhead to preserve shady soap making practices was government sponsored...

Quote:

Capitalist values again.

Quote:

Actually, subsidized by him. Who do you think the government is?

Quote:

Because everyone owes derelects the opportunity to produce... So much, that one party is robbed to give that opportunity...

Don't forget that Joe's union just signed the best contract ever!!! However, the company is shipping jobs overseas by the month in order to close down all operations that require overpriced U.S. labor...

Quote:

Joe doesn't realize that he's actually paying for this because workman's comp and unemployment run as high as 15% of payroll depending on the field. So, rather than Joe buying an AFLAC policy at a decent rate for the coverage he really needs, if he's hurt on the job, he has to fight workman's comp to get paid... and what he gets paid sucks...

Quote:

I'm not informed enough on this one... However, considering what you're batting so far, I don't have much faith in it.

Quote:
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.
Regrettably, Joe was undereducated relative to his potential because the increased supply of funds gave college access to morons who'd not go if they actually had to work to get in and the pace of classes was slowed to compensate for his classmates.

Joe was really lucky to get that mortgage because he didn't have to maintain close ties with his family to have access to the 20% downpayment that is required outside of Fannie/Freddie. This worked out well because families are evil and any impetus to fracture them serves socialist beliefs.

Quote:
Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dad's; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards.
And then, because Joe is too stupid to think for himself, he was forced to use the safety equipment against his wishes. Joe has to understand that what makes liberals scum isn't the fact they do some good; It's that the goal, after they control the government, is to control your life decisions... because, just as you're too stupid to buy a car with more safety features, you're also too stupid to make decisions for yourself.

Quote:

I'm not familiar with farm loans. However, Joe's ancestral home was forced to get electricity. His family had to pay for it even though they were quite happy with their nice diesel generator... However, Joe's family just has to understand: They have an obligation to society. It doesn't matter how much they've done in their lives. When their neighbors want power lines, they have no choice but to participate because it's not about them and their lives-- It's about the collective.

Quote:
He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.
But Joe's in for a big surprise because his dad's sly. The old man has a return of about 7% on the funds he contributed. Joe, if he's over 40, is going to have a 1% return. If Joe's under 40, hehe, there's going to be nothing there. So, although Joe's paying 15% for his social security, he likely faces eating cat food in old age because social security is the biggest raping of the American people since George was calling the shots.

Oh, Joe doesn't realize either that the burden of that 15% SS tax rate (which is much higher than anything his dad paid) is the reason Joe can never really get ahead... Because the heavier the burden, the less of his labor available to put toward investing in his own great ideas.

Republicans aren't always conservative and Democrats aren't always liberal.

Default Welcome to the neocon party

Your parents put you through college.

You inherit your parents house outright, or it's sold to you for pennies just before they're eligible for a nursing home, shifting responsibility to public welfare agencies.

You have a 401k plan instead of a pension, so you do your best to defer taxes until some other day to augment your social security check. You work extra hard to save more, but are never home for dinner.

You forgot your kids names, or otherwise have no idea who they are because you were too busy making money.

You don't put your children through college.

You sell your parents house on an inflated market and make whopping profits, and encourage your 21 yr olds, soon to be burdened with massive student loan debt, to go ahead and rent instead of owning. They're adults now, and you want a life.

You complain incessantly about taxes, that everyone is mooching you, but you mysteriously expect everything for free as has been your tradition in life.

You roll over the profits into another house with better ammenities, also inflated in value, and shift assets around enough to purchase another 'summer home' outside the continental USA on the cheap.

Then you reposition your assets again, sell your higher ammenity home on inflated market for another round of profit, and go ahead and live outside the continental USA with dual citizenship in an early retirement vista view of a depressed economy nation where your dollar goes further.

You don't owe america anything, but you'll wait for the day america owes you a social security check and be first to spend it outside the very economy that fed you your entire life.

You can complain to your estranged children long distance, as they are still paying off student loans, and outrageously priced real estate mortgages, and outrageous rates of taxation, why your social security check didn't come yet. 'Where is MY fair share?'

... Because you know that the welfare net is there to be exploited...

The early bird gets the worm... and the left-overs. Both are good eatin' and you don't like your family anyway, but had a sense of responsibility not to leave...

You're a good man. Women raise the kids... You feed them. Hopefully, after you're passed and they're reading over your journals, they'll begin to understand...

I'm a boomer. For all my honorable traits, at the root, I'd throw children off a life raft to save my cash.

Like I said, I'm a boomer. I was raised to believe everyone owed me. Did I mention, you owe me to?

Booma, booma, booma, booma, pay me everywhere...

Actually, the price wasn't inflated. I'm smarter than that with money... but my summer home is grrrreat!

It pays to have a good accountant and attorney. Thank you FDR... It was a great deal!

I wasn't selling anything more than my labor-- I checked-- there were no commitments beyond that.

Sho'nuff.

It's funny. My coworker just gave me a copy of this last week.

That thing's made the rounds of email spam for years now.

Years ago, that little screed may have some basis in reality. My prediction is that it's lost it's effectiveness now that most people have become aware of what the Republican party has mutated into.

It's a good thing that one bad administration doesn't represent the party as a whole, considering how much dissatisfaction there is among republicans right now.
