They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. So it's OK for YOU to quote the Tax Policy Center, but when I point to something from there it's liberal bias. Here's part of your quote that I was responding to(#112)
Quote:
"sales tax would have to be somewhere around 30% to replace current Federal income tax receipts."
And where did you come up with that number?
And keep in mind many pay 0 in income taxes now.
With a national sales tax, even drug dealers and other crooks will be paying.
"61% of Americans paid no federal income taxes in 2020, Tax Policy Center says"

In addition, you didn't actually point out any perceived flaws in the article I linked to. Do you think there are any factual errors in the article? Any issues with the article's claims that a national sales tax would be regressive, more than doubling the amount of tax paid by the lower 80% of income tax payers while decreasing the share paid by the top 20% of income tax payers from 84% to 65%?
No country is funded from sales taxes alone. All of the countries that have a national sales tax also have an income tax, and there is some portion of the population that doesn't pay the income tax due to the zero percent brackets.
