Pathetic, yes. But that's all they have to show us for it. A few who were already in the upper tax brackets have managed to do well out of it all...

Yes, and no. It depends on what you call "better off".

I guess in your world bubble, hard work would have nothing to do with it.

No doubt about it. But its got nothing to do with who is taking up space in the Oval Orifice.

Anyone who believes hard work will get the job done has a long row to hoe. You guys seem to think that there's some sort of exchange rate -- hard work gets turned into some sort of financial progress. There are tens of millions of Americans out there whose life experiences belie that particular tale...

Hard work, a personal progression of education, wise choices, learning from mistakes....it's a natural that we all advance in some way, shape or form.

Only those who lie stagnant and don't aim for better (and make poor decisions along the way) end up worse off.

About the same actually.

Thinking back, I was laid off in 1998 because of slow economy.

No, I am not better off financially then I was 8 years ago, key word is financially.

Not due to the economy or anything other than my personal choices and one huge instance of bad luck (medical problem).

But I am better off in every other aspect.
