Oh that’s cute. You’re assuming Trump won’t be president in 2029 if he wins in 2024. He’ll probably be dead by then but if he’s not he’ll still be “president.”
Never said there were. But one of them is going to start first. New York is set for October 24. Miami is May 20. Georgia is unknown, but the courts are perpetually backed up in Fulton County.
It seems logical that since the federal docket moves faster than the states, D.C. will be the logical place for a trial to start quicker, depending, of course, on when he’s indicted there.
The federal docket is much SLOWER Than the states'.
The average American doesn't receive preferential treatment in legal proceedings, and neither should Donald Trump.
Actually, average Americans frequently received "preferential" treatment in legal proceedings. In this case, the "preferential treatment" to which you refer is the case being delayed. It is a common tactic for defense attorneys to delay cases via endless continuances, strategic FTAs, and a plethora of other means. The goal is to drag it out so long that witnesses get tired of showing up. I saw this happen many times as an LEO. I had one case where a woman left a 4-year-old child in a car unattended for several hours while she went shopping in a mall. I continued getting court summons for a good ten years on that one.
But to your broader point, I agree, no one should be above the law or receive special treatment. Unfortunately, treatment of the wealthy/powerful by the court system has always been different than for us regular folks - in every country in the world since civilization began. The real question is this - is someone being treated better or worse than other people in similar circumstances have been treated, or is the prosecution based on racism, sexism, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, political affiliation, etc. A simple example would be shoplifting. I think we all agree that shoplifting is wrong, but many people who are caught shoplifting are let off the hook for practical reasons, not because they're above the law. However, if it was determined that 90% of purple shoplifters are prosecuted, but only 25% of pink shoplifters are prosecuted, then a hard look needs to be taken at possible bias against purple people.
It's the same with politicians. Was Bill Clinton treated worse than other people in his position who committed the same offense? Nixon? HRC? Biden? Trump? I don't know, but it's much more complicated than "lock 'em all up". Political witch hunts are a real thing.
