Isn't it great to live in a free country where we can't even choose what kind of light bulb we want? What will be the next ban to come after gas water heaters, stoves, clothes dryers, and boilers? My prediction is flush toilets will be the next modern convenience to be targeted.
I don't think most people miss their incandescent light bulbs

You would be smart and save money if you switch to led bulbs. I switched 15 years ago and the first bulb to burn out happened last week. It was the one that stayed on all night. The bulbs I bought were 13 watts, and give light equivalent to a 60 watt incandescent, but uses much less electricity.

Interesting. The same ideologically progressive/liberal people screeching about pornography being banned from school libraries are acting as though the people upset at government banning the freedom to choose the type of lightbulb you use are the lunatics…

Also, these same ideologically progressive/liberal people cannot articulate why incandescent bulbs need to be banner, if they are outright dying. The same way they cannot explain why ICE powered cars need to be regulated out of existence, if EV’s are truly better… Personally, I think narcissism has a lot to do with it. They act as though they’re supremely right and cannot understand why anyone would do things differently than them.

Would the left like it if a Conservative EPA regulated EV’s out of existence?

For what it’s worth, in the winter time, I switch out the LED bulbs in the lamp on my desk, where I spend a lot of my day, with 60W incandescent bulbs. I find the heat the bulbs put off is enough for me to keep the furnace temperature lower. Which is better for the environment? Using 120 watts of electricity or raising the furnace temperature for the whole house? As I’ve said before, there’s a difference between being an environmentalist and being a devout follower of the nutty religion of climate change.

I haven’t read most of this thread. I’m sure I’ll have more to add tomorrow. I’m sure there’s a lot of excuses for tyranny and narcissism…

Flush toilets in our previous state of Oregon mandated low flush toilets decades ago. Contrary to the belief of being wet most of the time, we were often in water rationing situations. Low flush toilets are better designed and do a better flush. Water was not cheap nor was the sewer charge which was based on water usage.

I switched to LED bulbs years ago because they last longer, use less energy, and are available in warmer temperatures that mimic the light that comes from an incandescent bulb instead of that horrible blue light that CFLs normally put off. I even bought LED Christmas lights that look very much like the old style C9 (large bulb) outdoor lights because they look accurate and use 90% less energy. But somehow, I made the choice to do that on my own without government banning incandescent bulbs. Go figure!

Can you tell us again how much you love your induction stove and how OK you are with banning gas stoves, because you happen to love your induction stove, so everyone else should love them too?

I agree. I use LED's and they are much better all around. I am fine with PSA's explaining why LED's are better and letting people decide on their own. Banning is never the right thing.

The hypocrisy is large with these Leftists. They're willing to limit their own freedom in order to justify Government taking away YOURS. Why? I guess it makes them feel powerful. Who knows?

Maybe they should fill the void in their own lives by improving themselves instead of trying to control others through big Government.

It's great that you can speak for "most people."

I never got your survey, though.

Seems all part of the plan to push EV's and that meant reducing grid use since EV's will stress the grid to the max. This after we all got 'energy star' appliances to reduce our energy use. Oh wait incandescent bulbs have been sucking the grid dry and we didn't even know it!

Only 1/10 of the energy is converted to light. They heat up homes far better than they light them. In some localities that can be extremely problematic.

This is like saying "I have a right to be emotionally attached to a scam" because that is essentially what the old bulbs are, you may think you are buying a lighting element and instead you are buying a heating element with a little light as a by-product.

Are you attached to that warm glow of yellow light? No problem, buy LED lights in that exact same shade.

Plus, most if not all incandescent lights are made in old factories overseas and must be imported.

Of all the things to be upset about, this is not it.

It's like people are addicted to anger and can't wait for the next stupid and embarrassing thing to be upset about.

you dont like to think things thru do you?

still I note you do not address a single reason to issue a governmental BAN.
