Must not have been SF or LA, or the DA would have prosecuted the employees for assult. Once on the ground "he is no longer a threat". At that point, a woke DA would prosecute them for crimes.
Right. The man walks in with a trash container and starts to ransack the place. He's stopped and now (see photo in link)... he's the victim. https://postlmg.cc/ctr5hGph
Skinny stick didn’t do jack. A baseball bat or pipe would have been more memorable for that punk. But still an entertaining vid.
Striated lead or steel pipes worked pretty well at Wonderland, but I'm not sure the guys being robbed wanted to kill the thief.
That big, long stick can bring a lot of momentum to bear if you have room to get a full swing. Better for use outdoors.
Indoors, an old style police baton is probably best.
Actually, if you make the decision to use violence, better to shoot the guy. He's on film making motions to his waistband as to produce a weapon. That would have been the signal to shoot him.
Why did the store workers let him leave with the bystander? They should have waited for the police to arrive and arrest him. The guy is a criminal and needs to spend a few years in prison for an attitude adjustment.
Those guys may be the franchise owners or relatives etc. and thus losing the money of whatever he stole instead of just a low wage worker putting in time.
Regardless, it's nice to see people getting fed up with theft.
This business of someone walking into a store and then walking out with a bag full of stolen goods isn’t going away. Or at least not anytime soon. My guess is at some point a shoplifter will be shot and killed.
The question then becomes will the store clerk be brought up on charges for killing a person while trying to stop them from stealing.
