Speaking for Los Angeles, there has always been a certain amount of tension between blacks and Koreans. I'll give the short story (or try.)
There were liquor stores and small markets scattered all across Los Angeles, including South Central. They were typically owned by Jews. When these stores opened, the areas where they were located were typically working-class white areas. World War II caused an influx of blacks from the South to work in the war industry. When the war ended, the jobs were gone and many blacks were left unemployed. These areas became blighted, crime increased, and the whites eventually left. The old Jewish store owners were ready to retire at this point. But their kids, many college graduates, wanted no part of the stores or the areas where they were located. But the Korean immigrants wanted them and they were willing to overpay for them.
So, the old guys sold their stores to the Koreans and the Koreans immediately doubled the prices. Those areas had lost their supermarkets due to crime, so the little corner stores were all the locals had. The locals see their food bill double, notice the Koreans barely speak English, and unlike the old Jewish guys, offer no racial deference to the locals. No respect.
Then there was the Latasha Harlins murder in 1991. It was the George Floyd event of the time.
So, when the opportunity arose to loot and burn, who do you think is targeted? Note the majority of looting, however, was perpetrated by Latinos, who had no skin in the Rodney King game.
They even make a reference to what happened in Falling Down.
The Eurocentrics heads here will probably explode trying to explain Gender neutral words & dialects found in other cultures because it threatens their history of Patriarchy.
Eurocentrics and threats aside, I have no need to learn that language. I already have one.
