As usual, we don't get to see what transpired before this. Until I see the entire encounter, and hear what was said, and hear what was going through the Administrators mind, I will reserve judgement. But from the little I've seen, it looks like the Administrator felt she had to restrain the student because she thought the student posed a threat (possibly even to himself). If the kid got away and hurt someone, the parents would be asking "Why didn't anyone stop him?"
Why isn't the mother outraged at her child's behavior? And don't say he's only 10 we had a 6 year old shoot his teacher at one school in the state, teachers never know what kids will do these days.
I wish we knew why he was being suspended. That seems to be an important missing part of information.

Right, and they needed an administrator to help escort the student to detention. Sounds like the kid is a handful which is on the parents yet she is calling for case managers and counselors at the school, someone who cares.
Its school. They are there to learn why do students need case managers. Seems to me what some of the students (and their parents) need is a foot up their bum.

Because this is the new norm. This is what teachers have to deal with.
This is how it is in school. Their child can do no wrong.
This is why I let my Teaching Cert go "inactive" and didn't transfer to SC when I moved.
I live in AZ 8 months a year. Laveen isn't an ideal spot to live. Here you go //www.city-data.com/neighborhoo...Laveen-AZ.html An average home is $130K (it's a poor area). Considering the admin was called in, I predict the student is well-known at the school.
If that happened to my kid, I'd mandate he personally apologizes to everyone involved.
That is what school used to be. When I was in school the bigger fear was going home if you got in trouble at school.
It's the complete opposite now.
Yep. In fairness, that's still the case in some homes. But at that kid's house. He can do no wrong.
