You think that they really believe what they are saying? They are conmen seeking to destroy the world for regular people.

The thread title appears to be a lie. The OP provided no source showing Bill Gates saying anything, let alone the words in the thread title.

As I previously quoted from the company’s website:

“forests in the western U.S. are overgrown, threatened by disease, and at risk of megafire. In order to bring these forests back into balance, we must dramatically accelerate forest thinning treatments”

Are you against reducing the spread of diseased trees and wild fires? That’s what your comment “Leave nature alone” means.

So? And? You don't think keeping our forests healthy is one way to fight global warming? No one even in this thread disputes the fact that trees filter out CO2 and produce oxygen and that absolutely fights global warming. You being hyper focused on the term global warming instead of looking at the big picture is, and pardon the pun, a case of you not being able to see the forest for the trees.

So where does it indicate chop down 70 million acres of trees, poetic license? Article indicates dead trees.

That it does, the whole concept is to remove the dead wood preventing potential fuel for a forest fire or rotting in place which is the danger of putting CO2 back into the atmosphere. The trees are dead that's why they aren't being processed for lumber as some posted. and as the MIT article that is linked in Kodama Systems website says

"Trees are naturally efficient at sucking down vast amounts of carbon dioxide from the air, but they release the carbon again when they die and rot on the ground. Sequestering trees underground could prevent this."

Well, the proposed system has to be some kind of convoluted operation or else there wouldn't be anything to invest in.

But I have suggested that in wildfire areas that every paved county road could become a 1000' wide fire break. And then any licensed and bonded tree cutter could cut and remove trees within 500' of the center of the county road. The tree cutters would not be paid but would simply get the commodity of the trees. Of course there are logs produced from this operation but also wood chippings.

Now there are operations that produce jet fuel from wood chippings. The tree takes the carbon-dioxide out of the air while the use of the fuel puts it back in. Hopefully, that process is carbon-neutral. (For a shorter time-line use lightly-fertilized sorghum in cellulose processes.)
