I heard somewhere but cannot confirm that DeSantis made a rule that anything that could not be read aloud in a public hearing also cannot be made available in a school library. Not sure if that's true or not but if so it seems like a pretty common sense rule to me.
Not only have public schools failed to educate our kids in the traditional manner, and have indoctrinated our kids to hate each other, now they have become the world of pervs and porn.
These books don’t belong in any schools, no matter the grade level.
If kids want to find porn somewhere else, it’s up to their parents to step in. But schools are now telling parents that school librarians have the say in this. Schools make the rules. Parents? Go take a hike.

I heard it read on Grass Roots Army (https://www.youtube.com/@GrassrootsArmy) and the school board stops the parent after a very short while, as that kind of language was forbidden at the school board meetings.
Adults have been put on the sexual predator list for sharing information with children like this, yet the schools are allowed to provide it for the children.

That is a separate issue, but part of the major issue. Sexually desensitizing children, sort of connected to the JAMBLA motto "sex before 8 or it is too late", and that group is still active, as is the porn industry who desperately wants to see age decreased for movie productions, as there is a demand by the sick minded for such things.
The excerpts from the books that I have heard read on https://www.youtube.com/@GrassrootsArmy meet the legal definition of pornography, and we are talking providing it by adults to children which is a criminal action.
Does it really matter? The books meet the legal definition of pornography, and sharing pornography with children is a criminal action. I don't think you realize what is being shared with the children or the goal. Do you support the insanity that the children no longer belong to the parents, that parents should have the kids removed if they oppose sexualizing and teaching morals against those of the home?
Go to this youtube channel and listen to parents speaking to school boards all over the country. Yes, many times the school boards will stop them due to the sexual nature, and this isn't biology, this meets the legal definition of porn!
The Senate Hearing was NSFW ( not safe for work). The NSFW reading came during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing titled “Book Bans: Examining How Censorship Limits Liberty and Literature,” which discussed efforts to define what books should be publicly available.
“I want to try to understand what you’re asking us to do. Let’s take two books that have been much discussed,” Kennedy told Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, who earlier this year backed a bill to withhold state funding from libraries that don’t follow American Library of Association guidelines.
Senator Kennedy read from 2 books - they are NSFW to be read aloud and Mrdua had to censor the pictures in these so called Graphic Novels for children. That’s pretty insane when you think about. OK for kiddos in school and public Libraries, but not OK to be shown in School Meeting for adults.
The U.S. Federal Law on Obscenity states: "The standard of what is harmful to minors may differ from the standard applied to adults. Harmful materials for minors include any communication consisting of nudity, sex or excretion that (i) appeals to the prurient interest of minors, (ii) is patently offensive to prevailing standards in the adult community with respect to what is suitable material for minors, (iii) and lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for minors."
The books listed in this article contain explicit sexual content that is inappropriate for minors. Contrary to Judiciary Chairman Durbin's claim, students don't deserve access to books that can and will influence and confuse them concerning their sexuality and/or gender. The main problem with children being groomed by adults for sexual abuse is that adults are asserting that children are acting sexually long before they are emotionally and sexually mature enough to do so. Adults have no right to transfer their obsession with sexuality onto children!
To most normal parents - this is a No Brainer, add to that all the “gender” books pushed on young children AND the fact that instead of actually learning how to Read, Write, learn Math - the concentration appears to be picture books, often inappropriate picture books. We should not be at a point where the Libraries, Teachers & School Boards are at War with Parents —- but here we are.
Nearly six months ago, on the day before Valentine’s Day, Due West Elementary School in Marietta, Georgia, held its annual Scholastic Book Fair. Hundreds of picture books, early reader books, and more were available for purchase by students, parents, and Due West educators.
Due West’s gifted specialist Katie Rinderle spent $30.96 on four picture books.
Teacher Katie is a 5th grade teacher, she has story time in which SHE reads a book to her 5th graders - she was fired after reading a Gender Identity book titled My Shadow is Purple
I looked this book up at Amazon to see what it is — IMO, she deserved to be fired, not so much for the content of the book, but because it is a book written for age 4+. This is how kids are taught in schools today - via picture books. It’s no wonder our Education system is in the dumper.
I’m not in favor of Book Bans, never have been. Books like The Wizard of Oz & Black Beauty (book about a horse) have found themselves on the Ban List. Our Government has banned books ( not allowed them to be published), the Governmebt of Lebanon has banned any book about Jews and any history book about Lebanon past the year 1974. This banning has usually been a Culture issue, why is it now our Education System that feels obligated to use picture books to promote sexual activity, Racism and gender issues at children? Teachers used to educate children, now it’s more about indoctrination.
What is a Banned Book?

If you take 5 minutes and look the book up it is recommended on average for grades 9-12 with many sites saying age 15 and up so once again the faux outrage is in overdrive.
Not a joke. There are now a number of books that are being read to/available to kids in elementary schools that school boards allow, but won't allow parents to read from the books during hearings because they "don't allow pornography in the hearing."
It is disgusting but what should we expect from the Left. They are indoctrinating the kids and when it is pointed out they attack the messenger and silence them.
Little kids can read books about how to give oral sex and somehow the Left doesn't see anything wrong with that? Of course these are the same types that think it is okay for a teacher to enable a child to come out as Trans at school and keep it from the parents.
We used to call that predatory when an adult would have a secret with the child and "don't tell your parents"....
These people that allow and encourage this are sick.
This needs to be brought to light just like how the Illegal Alien crisis was. We have a party in this country that is actively undermining the very fabric of decency and Law.

Why are you assuming that this book is being taught as if it was some course? Libraries carry a broad range of books as they say "you'll find something to offend everyone" so if you have no interest then don't check it out.
Have you read it, I haven't but all the agencies and reviews used by libraries have evaluated it as appropriate for the age(s)/grade levels mentioned and I trust their professional opinions. It wasn't 20 years ago that the moral outrage over the Harry Potter series was in full swing and pretty much the same thing and yet we survive. A parent can simply request that their child not be allowed to use the library at school and they will oblige them, the child loses but if that's what the parents want that's their choice.
These books do not make a child gay but they do provide answers and make them realize they aren't so alone and so different; if that prevents 1 child from attempting suicide over their despair then its worth it.
