They have nothing to fear. Trump is being installed as is Biden.

Bill does make some very good points. He's like Chris Rock who make white people laugh at themselves without feeling like crap. Bill Maher does the same thing and is funny but you don't feel better because you know he's right when he criticizes the Dems (I am one). What I like is that he points out the mistakes and the utter b.s. of both sides of the aisle.
He identifies as a classic liberal (and from what little I know, seems to be). Which is far closer to a Libertarian or moderate Republican these days than the far-left s-show the Democratic party has become.

1. Having your nominee be a convicted felon
2. Having your nominee possibly die of old age
3. Having an automatic lame duck and forfeiting the incumbency advantage in 28
4. Re-running 2020 where your nominee lost to the worst candidate in the history of presidential politics. Biden barely left his basement and did campaign speeches in his backyard to honking cars.

On the other hand we have a candidate who is very young, has a long career ahead of him, has made a critical state like Florida bright red after it was blue to purple for a long time, and who has a track record of great success.

There's absolutely nothing Trump could do that Desantis couldn't also do, policy-wise, and it's probably more likely Desantis would get things done because he's way more disciplined and focused, and he doesn't galvanize the opposition the way Trump does.

It's a no-brainer.
When it comes to foreign enemies
Trump has a kinship with Putin and other populist leaders and dictators. Given some past experience, he could be able to get in a room to negotiate. He is more a businessman.

DeSantis comes off awkward at times. Also, his Congressional record is that of a neocon, and that doesn’t change out of a person, just because they now want to offer red meat to the Trump base.

^ DeSantis has said he'd not meet Kim or Putin "without a condition".

lololol - do you think Trump is going to be dead in 2028? I assure you, if Trump wins in 2024, he will die in office - whenever that may be.

Waiting.....

I think it's so interesting that every time I dip my little toe into P&OC I get told to get lost.
Hmm, maybe something you said?

Consider that a sign of just how off the deep end leftists have gone where they've even lost Maher on some issues.
When I was a Democrat I don't recall any mainstream Democrat referring to themselves as a "Leftist" ie. Marxist, Socialist, Communist. My parents were anti Communist JFK supporters. Recently with Marxist created BLM, CRT creators: Richard Delgado, Kimberly Crenshaw, Mari Matsuda, Communist's Van Jones and John Brennan all welcomed to the Democrat party, they openly call themselves "Leftist". I'm just waiting for Joe Biden and Hillary to openly call themselves Leftist?

I’m sure Maher was very happy to talk to DeSantis. Not because he likes, respects, or agrees with him, but so he can talk on his favorite subject, which is Trump bashing.

Until you can convince America that, it doesn't matter.

Trump will get the GOP nomination, even if he's in an orange jumpsuit.

Where are the moderate Republicans now? You have moderates like Chris Christie or Romney or Liz Cheney. Who MAGA hate. Why the hate? Because they are willing to call Trump out for who he really is. They are honest. Their policies are not that different from Republicans for the past few decades. None of them could get elected dog catcher in a MAGA controlled town. The GOP has become an s-show as you call it with Gaetz and MTG running the show. Its all about trash talking the left. The ones that are best at it are the most revered. I agree the dems are no better maybe worse.

There are moderates on both sides they are just drown out by the extremists. Bill Maher has a big audience which would not exist if few thought like him and he has built that over decades. But to get on the airwaves these days left or right you have to cater to the extremes or its very difficult.
