Good for them though I wish they were banned entirely everywhere. This ain't California.
Quite a few people seem to gush over these public nuisances, saying things like "at least they are working hard and not looking for handouts."
Umm, no. They think they don't have to abide by any regulations, codes, or laws, and can do anything they want anywhere. And contrary to the popular image of these illegal vendors being "hard working decent folk," many are quite hostile and will easily attack you as seen in the video.
On Tuesday, Clark County officials unanimously voted to ban street food vendors from operating near resort hotels, event facilities, and convention centers.
Street food vendors will be barred from working within 1,500 feet of a resort hotel or near a facility that can seat at least 20,000 people, among other areas.
Enforcement of the new ordinance prohibiting vendors from operating on the resort corridor will be effective immediately, according to the county.
The cost to eat at restaurants in the immediate vicinity is absolutely outrageous.
You’ve got to give people the option to eat for a reasonable price.
Unless the goal is to exclude the working men and women from vacationing in Las Vegas?
After all, this would “save the environment”, right?
In the future, only rich people will be able to travel and vacation. The others will sit at home during their free time, you know, for the “betterment of the planet”.

I remember when gaming subsidized Food and Beverage and you saw 99 cent shrimp cocktails and $1.49 steak and eggs. It gave the tourist a little feeling they were at least gettting something for their loss's. It was also great for the locals. Now, every department has to be a profit center and we have some of the most expensive food and drinks in the country.
I'd like to see them ban the porn slappers and ridiculous costumed street hustlers next.
I don't really have a problem with street vendors. We have them in Florida. People set up roadside BBQ stands, fruit stands, etc.. We have a well known and loved vendor that we call the watermelon man. He posts on social media as to what location he will be. He sells nice produce for less than the big stores and I am happy to see people trying to make a living. It's a win/win.
I have no problem with legal street vendors. This video is about illegal street vendors. Let us be clear what we are talking about when we say we are for or against "them".

That's a good point. I admit that I do not know if our local side of the road vendors are legal or not. I've never asked but I don't see permits posted anywhere so who knows.?

The point is, they're banning them all.
Many cities have areas near downtown with food trailers/trucks, that do have to pass inspection. They are operated on a small budget, and offer a variety of different foods in one location and typically have picnic tables set up in a common area.

Not true. In Las Vegas they are banned in certain areas. Those without a permit are banned everywhere. Those with a permit are allowed in certain areas. The OP said they should all be banned. If everyone would specify whether they support banning all vendors or just illegal ones, and whether they support banning everywhere or just certain areas, we can have a comprehensible conversation.
It's like the immigration debate: there is legal immigration and illegal immigration. You can be for one and not the other, for both, for neither, or for either with some restrictions.

I agree. I have bought soft pretzels from my car countless times in Philly because someone had the smarts to buy bags of them and stand along the road selling them. And countless street vendor hot dogs, too.
