If Israel actually recognized Gaza as its own nation, it's only so they can more aggressively pursue their own goals of cleansing the region of "undesirable" non-European Jews the next time around.
If you'd read some legit history books you'd know that Israel was effectively founded about 3600 years ago...and Bob's your uncle.

If Israel wanted to claim Gaza, why did they withdraw in 2005 and give it back?

In 2005, 21 Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip were unilaterally dismantled and Israeli settlers and army evacuated from inside the Gaza Strip.
The eviction of all residents, demolition of the residential buildings and evacuation of associated security personnel from the Gaza Strip was completed by 12 September 2005.[3] The eviction and dismantlement of the four settlements in the northern West Bank was completed ten days later.
Of course, Immediately, they started using that withdraw to lob their own rockets and attacks on Israel. Who eventually said screw it, you guys can't be trusted, we'll be keeping you on lockdown, And the settlements resumed. . Apparently Egypt did too by restricting their border.
I was thinking, if Israel does manage to degrade the HAMAS government, it will leave a power vacuum in the strip that will need to be filled. Perhaps a stabilization force of Jordanian-Egyptian peacekeepers should be considered, accompanying an Israeli withdrawal? That can help keep out yet another terrorist group, and they could work with the Palestinians to set up a new government.
Leftist thugs of every stripe think this is good behavior.
Would love to drop the Muslims among them off, in China, and the LGBTqxyz off in Iran, and the rest could be dropped off in N. Sudan. Wonder how long they would last in other parts of the world. Could drop them off, all together, somewhere, and see which ones threw the others under the bus, the fastest.
The Israelis are dealing with a crazy fundamentalist group that wants to kill every Jew they can get their hands on. The IDF is in Gaza and they need to completely eradicate Hamas with every resource available. Hamas has to be absolutely destroyed or they will come back again and again.
