McCarthy made so many deals to become speaker. One of the deals was allowing one member to file a motion to vacate. One member has never been allowed to do that before. And he didn't deliver what they wanted which is why these 8 republicans voted him out. He made deals because he was desperate to become speaker. This is much worse because no republican seems to be making deals. They either have the votes or not. They aren't willing to promise things they can't deliver to get votes.
So the House will have speaker with no name, no experience, no fund raising cred who takes direction from a psychopathic ex-president who is increasingly losing his grip on reality. A man who is under indictment for 91 felonies and whose Chief of Staff and lawyers just turned state's evidence against him. And MAGAland is happy.
Based on reports circulating around, it does appear that Johnson should have the votes. He didn't get near the 217 mark last night in the GOP conference vote, but upwards of 20 members already left at that point. 3 members voted present and no one voted for another candidate.
House is going into session today at Noon ET and voting for the Speaker should occur shortly thereafter (Quorum call would be first)

I love it that Johnson's a member of the Freedom Caucus...the most Conservative Pubs in the House.
Johnson's kind of mellow, so he'll need a few henchmen at his side to do the dirty work. Gaetz and MTG would be perfect.

The obvious lack of concern and intentional ignorance is certainly a characteristic of MAGA voters. Those on the left are watching the show and sending out for more popcorn while the moderate voters see what a sham the GOP has become.
