Moving to Mexico requires economic solvency, as unlike here; they don't want people dependent on their system:

Temporary Residency: A regular income of at least c.US$3,275 per month, every month, over the last 6 months (some consulates request 12 months).
Permanent Residency: A regular income of at least c.US$5,460 per month, every month, over the last 6 months (some consulates request 12 months).
Or:
Temporary Residency: Qualifying savings/investments showing account balance(s) totaling at least c.US$54,600 over the last 12 months. (The total must not fall below the minimum amount required at anytime over the last 12 months.)
Permanent Residency: Qualifying savings/investments showing account balance(s) totaling at least c.US$218,000 over the last 12 months. (The total must not fall below the minimum amount required at anytime over the last 12 months.)

American 'illegals' in Mexico

"Last year about 1,000 US citizens were questioned over irregularities in their immigration status, according to Mexican authorities. They face a modest fine - up to $50 - if officials find them working without a permit or living in Mexico without proper documents.

Those who lose their visas or are asked to leave the country and then discovered to be overstaying are fined up to $400.

But the National Migration Institute in Mexico has no idea just how many Americans are living or working illegally in Mexico.

There are no advocacy groups defending American aliens in Mexico. Mexican politicians haven't raised it as a major issue - a far cry from the controversy around illegal migration on the other side of the border."

Increasing Future Immigration Grows the U.S.' Competitive Advantage

"The U.S. needs to increase the number of immigrants entering our country each year substantially to grow its competitive advantage and expand our future workforce, according to immigration scenarios prepared by researchers at George Mason University in a study commissioned by FWD.us. Without boosting legal immigration significantly now, the U.S. will sacrifice its position as the world’s largest economy by 2030 and leave the reserves of vital programs—like Social Security—depleted by 2034."

Got a question, what type of person moves to another country gets a job a place to stay and doesn't care enough about their family back home, to send them money? Seems to me that's the type of person American citizens prefer.

Illegals are getting to the front of the line for HUD housing and will buy in cash a cheap piece of crap home. Insure it, light it on fire, collect the insurance and build a brand new home on it. The legal American citizen is getting screwed while illegals and the corporations are making out like bandits. The corps like Walmart get cheap labor, the illegals get free housing, food and medical while American citizens are on the streets. All the homeless I have seen have all been American citizens. Mostly veterans that were kicked to the curb when their benefits ran dry.

The people I am talking about could get a green card because they had family here. Then they went back to Greece.

The people on this forum are kind of weird in that you only fixate on migrants coming from south america, wonder why no one here ever mentions "illegals" coming from other countries like Ireland, Norway, Sweden, france, italy, and the uk countries like that. The Saudi nationals who were responsible for 9/11 came here legally how about instead of showing everyone the ignorance and fear you all exude from your pores with every word you just simply stop already. Fox news should be branded a hate organization with all the ugliness that comes from them. And what exactly is the issue you have with migrants sending money back home? Have they worked for that money through having jobs? Then it is their money and their choice.
That's because 80% of illegals are from south of our border, duh. That doesn't mean we are ok with illegals from anywhere else and all illegals should be deported no matter where they are from.

Why should Fox news be branded as a hate organization? For what? Illegals have no right to work in this country so it's money attained by law breaking. When you factor in those dollars they send back to their homelands that isn't spent in our economy and the over $100 billion a year they are costing us for their social costs it's a big negative on our country and our society or don't you care?

At the point that people are coming to the US to be able to work & generate enough money to survive, & send some back home, I'm not sure that they have long-term plans beyond that.

They're just following the money. US (& other Western) intervention in Latin America & the Caribbean hollowed out a lot of economies - think of the rationalization of mechanization (the Industrial Revolution), or the much-ballyhooed spread of AI in the US & the West in general.
Oh please, this crap again? It matters not what they want or what they do they are here illegally bottom line so please stop trying to justify it!

That change alone would out a big dent in illegal immigration.
When Mexico and several other Central/South American countries ignored Trump’s calls for help to slow the flow of illegals flooding into the country, he quickly got their attention by stating that if they didn’t help on their end, he was going to tax ALL cash transfers from the US to their countries and reduce foreign aid… Well, that’s all it too to get the Mexican and the others to visibly slow things down.

Love or hate Trump, he was and still is a doer…. Period! AND! Why I will be voting for him again in 2024.
