Why would it end with neutrality, CO2 lasts hundreds of years, nitrous oxide 100 years, methane 10 years. Read a science article and educate yourself before you ask a question that can be easily researched in a few minutes.
I was expecting a breakdown of the sources of CO2 by country. It seems that the west has already achieved carbon neutrality. ALL the increase in CO2 is now coming from India and China.
And if it doesn't pan out...like the Global Cooling movement, they will invent something else that we have to do/give up to save the planet.
It took 40 years for the scientists to finally admit that "Global Cooling" was just a period of cold winters....plain old weather changes.
There was never really any evidence to point to us becoming extinct via another "Ice Age".
There is a truth to "Age brings wisdom". And that is because the older you get the more idiotic schemes you have to fund and live through.
but does it matter now? we have a non-trivial tranche of the population that will parrot any drivel they come up with and defend it with violence if need be. since 2020, do the riots du jour for the cause do hour lessen or slacken? no. do they even bother people? double no.

This was the 70's
That didn't happen.
The planet went from getting colder (turned out to be a weather pattern) to getting warmer.
Then it turned into "Global Warming" with headlines all over the News about us becoming extinct via heat.
This was the 80's. (1988...NASA "expert")
That didn't happen either.
Now our weather swings both ways...so "Climate Change" which now can cover any and all changes.
There never was a scientific consensus for "global cooling" in the 1970s. It was of course, just a couple of guys... and Leonard Nimoy advocated for it on his Educational TV show.

Given that it was colder off the norm, than today is warmer off the norm, can you blame anyone from thinking that? Its only the folly of the democrat mind that gives this crap credence.
The sun will still rise in the am (unless dips*** gates fulfills his dream to blot it out), it will get warm, it will get hot and all the women will STILL go out with the guys from camp mohawk cuz they got all the money.

The link below is a good source for CO2 by country and many other facts. China, US and India are the top 3 in that order in total. India and China are much better than the US, especially India, we have 4% of the worlds population but generate over 14% of the CO2. We generate almost 3 times China and 4 times India on a per capita basis.
Only two small countries are carbon neutral at this time, the US goal is 2050. Still that doesn't take into account the carbon generated by the US over the last century which last a few hundred years.

A few cold years in the 70's, I don't recall any reputable organization indicating that was a trend.
