Lol.

We are completely dependent on China for almost everything. China already has us by the "you know what," and they know it.

For some reason, our elites thought this was an acceptable trade-off for access to slave labor and a large pool of new consumers.

Perhaps. Perhaps not.
There is no "slave labor" outside of their prison system. The relative difference in wages reflects different buying power of those wages.
Cost of living in China is, on average, 53.9% lower than in United States. Rent in China is, on average, 69.7% lower than in United States.

WHAT IS THE REAL DIFFERENCE?
Believe it or not, "capitalist" USA imposes more socialist taxes on labor and industry that "communist" China.

PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA
In 2018, the share of tax revenue in GDP was 18.9 percent.

US Per Capita Government Spending for 2024 - Charts>
2022 GDP: $23.499 T, U.S. population : 332.3 M, Per Capita : $70,716.22

● Federal spending, per capita : $18,090.2 (percentage of GDP: 25.5%)
● State spending, per capita : $ 6,931.7 (percentage of GDP: 9.8%)
● Local spending, per capita : $ 6,487.7 (percentage of GDP: 9.1%)

Summed up, combined government spending takes (approx) 44.4% of the GDP.

We've taxed ourselves into economic decline. The gubmint is happy, though. So are the recipients (over 60% of the population enjoys some level of public charity - entitlements, benefits, pensions). Only the shrinking population of taxpayers are alarmed. (Thank you, genocidal socialism, for tanking the birthrate)

:-:-: REMEDY :-:-:
Repeal all taxes on American labor and industry and make America into a "tax haven."
Can you imagine how FAST expatriate industries will return? Or how much "foreign capital" will be invested for tax-exempt profits? Or how our merchant marine might rebound with America becoming "the" country to register ships in?

Should rename this sub-forum to doom and gloom instead of POC. Another sky is falling thread.
