Not because they were bombed first. That is just a narrow and biased opinion.
Israel have been killing and displacing people from Israel and the West Bank long before the attack. An attack that Israel KNEW was going to happen.
Israel is not a peace loving country. Even Netanyahu himself has said that he has undermined the Oslo peace accord. And his son himself liked a post saying the IDF knew about the attack was coming. Let's just ignore this fact because it doesn't fit the propaganda that Israel is just defending itself. They didn't do anything because it serves a purpose, that's it: take the control of Gaza, and continue to take the land in the West Bank.
That is the immediate goal. To continue helping the regime changes in Muslim countries is what I mean by key role.
We don't understand the part that there are now reports that Israel is killing civilians in places where they're telling them to flee. It's nothing but genocide. Retaliate against Hamas. Leave the innocents out of it.
How do you separate civilians from Hamas though? They don't wear a uniform.
The population density of Gaza is the same as Hong Kong.

So, you're upset with someone starting the historical narrative in the past year, when you want to start maybe 15 years ago? After all the attempts to eradicate Israel and their resultant land gains.
There are no "good guys" there, it's a war and it suits several powers to keep it going.
Since at least we can agree that there is no good guys and each is trying to drive the other away with great violence, let's look at how this is part of a bigger plan.
Israel has gained more land and have drove Muslims out. The same has continued to this day in the West Bank. Palestinians respond with terrorism (which is pointless as it doesn't help their cause, and it's deplorable). They do this with the help of Iran. I don't support violence, much less terrorism, but if any American is taken out of his house at gun point there will blood. To suggest to surrender is hypocritical.
It is not justified, but we can easily see why Palestinians use terrorism against Israel. We can also see why Iran is using terrorism. I have already showed general Wesley Clark explaining how the USA had plans for regime change in 7 ME countries (Most of those countries have already been attacked/destroyed). Iran is next. I'll give two more examples:
Zbigniew Brzezinski warning of a nastier war 2007:
If the United States continues to be bogged down in a protracted bloody
involvement in Iraq, the final destination on this downhill track is likely to
be a head-on conflict with Iran and with much of the world of Islam at large.
A plausible scenario for a military collision with Iran involves Iraqi failure
to meet the benchmarks; followed by accusations of Iranian responsibility
for the failure; then by some provocation in Iraq or a terrorist act in the U.S.
blamed on Iran; culminating in a “defensive” U.S. military action against
Iran that plunges a lonely America into a spreading and deepening quagmire
eventually ranging across Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Testimony of the Honorable Zbigniew Brzezinski
Before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
United States Senate
Notice that he said Iran will be blamed, with the word defensive in parenthesis. Here is one more telling us who is really threatening the who:
