In 1975, US minimum wage was $2.10. Few states were much, if any, higher.

So the Big Mac is a deal at $12 compared to the days when there were a fraction of today's McDonald's restaurants available

I remember Julia Child praised McD's fries!

I would also like to know exactly what thy got for $12 (£9.45), as it seems to me that there are a lot of fairly cheap options, as well as more expensive options, and that's the case in terms of most fast food outlets.

Yeah. They used to use animal fats though. I'm just barely old enough to have a vague memory from my early childhood though before they switched to vege oil. I do have two distinct memories of damn these fries are good as well as damn what happened to the fries, but then it all sorts of blends together with childhood nostalgia. You can occasionally find beef tallow fries but it's pretty rare nowadays and a lot of people don't like them anymore as they have a distinct flavor that is unexpected today in fries where everyone uses vege oils. Palates have changed so peanut rather than duck or beef is the more commonly used oil at higher quality restaurants while whatever is cheapest is used elsewhere.

Maybe their addiction component is more expensive now.

Is that food addictive? I don't know but consider of what makes one go back to eat there, time and time again, when the price is, as stated, unreasonable? What makes one put up with it all?

True, one has to eat, but why must one eat that? What makes it so attractive and has the cost of making it so attractive, whatever motivations that may be, gone up in price?

McD's fries are seasoned with a mixture of salt and SUGAR. That's why they are so adictive.
